"Hey Lauren," I shout down the phone. I still don't have a new one yet so I'm using a house phone. My birthdays coming up soon though.
"You don't have to shout," she yawns, which makes me believe that she just woke up. "What did you get for Christmas?" She asks.
I frown and look around at all of the presents piling up around my room. I'm not spoilt, just grateful. "Baby stuff. Clothes, shoes, blankets, hats, mittens, pjs." I count through the list on my fingers. "Then stuff for me. Maternity clothes, clothes for when I'm non-pregnant, shoes, books, films, a beautiful mirror that runs from one side of my bathroom to the other, a bag, perfume, CDs. All that jazz," I laugh. "What about you?"
"Haha, your list seems awesome compared to mine," she laughs. "I got leggings, tops, CDs and a couple of films." I can hear the disappointment in her voice and I reply almost instantly.
"You can have one of the leather jackets I got," I smile. "I got two different ones, but I don't need both do I? I'll throw in some crop tops too. I got about five, but they're not really my type."
"Really?!" She squeals and I can hear her jumping up and down on her bed. "Thanks Asia! So so much! Did I tell you that I love you?"
"This day just keeps getting better," I giggle. "Sam's coming home today."
"What do you mean?" Lauren asks. "His Mum and Sister are still in Cumbria? I think they're coming back in about mid-January, that's if they come back. When they were taking stuff from the house and putting it in the car, they seemed to be moving there whole house!"
I bite down on my lip, hard. "His Mum called, they're not coming back, that's why I wasn't allowed to tell him when he'll be allowed to be let out of the hospital." I whisper.
"What?!" She exclaims and I hear her brother call from his room that he's being too loud. "You can't talk Michael! I'm surprised that you haven't got one of those girls in your room again!"
"One of them?" I ask raising an eyebrow.
"Don't go into it," Lauren sighs as her Mum starts shouting at the both of them to stop being so stupid. "I better go," she sighs again. "These chores aren't going to work themselves."
"Oh Lauren?!" I ask urgently. "Do you want to come over tomorrow for a sleepover? Mum and Rob will be out and I'll be all alone. Well, apart from Sam of course, and on top of that, it's new years!"
"Ok, cool!" She shrieks and hangs up the phone. No goodbye or anything. That's always been Lauren though. I walk into the kitchen just in time for a piece of toast to pop out of the toaster. I lick my lips and run to grab it, however a set of muscled arms beats me to it. I look up frowning, which soon merges into a massive smile.
"Sam!" I screech, leaping into his arms.
"Hey beautiful," he smiles back.
"I was just about to come and get you, what're you doing here so early?"
"The doctor said that I was fine to be let out, so I left at nine."
"It's so nice to have you home," I say, kissing him on the cheek. I raise my hand to run it through his shaggy blonde hair, but it's covered by a superman snapback. I smile even more and drag him up the stairs to show him where his room is.
Half way down the hallway, he picks me up bridal style and walks into the bedroom that has 'Sam' in scruffy pencil handwriting above the door. Mum is decorating the room at the moment, so it's not finished but it's going to look fabulous once it's finished. He has a perfect view of the swimming pool which is surrounded by exotic plants which make it look like a jungle. I've been swimming in there before. Well, I've paddled because I can't float with my bump. I can't wait to take my babies in there.
