I cracked our bedroom door open, holding my stomach with one hand. I was having trouble falling asleep, the small pains in my stomach keeping me from being comfortable. "Kian, do you think we can run out and grab some coffee?" I asked, trying to sleep was pointless at this time.
"Riley, it's five in the morning. Where would I get coffee?" The gold in his engagement ring catching the light from the tv as he ran his hand through his hair.
"I don't know, let's just drive around. I need some fresh air and something to lo relax myself." I pulled him up, slipping on a jacket and pulling my hair into a messy bun.
"You're lucky I love you so much." He smiled, kissing my cheek as we pulled out of the driveway.
An electric sensation shot through my sides, my stomach rumbling from the feeling. I grabbed my side and rubbed my stomach, keeping quiet as Kian pulled into a Mcdonalds'. "What kind of Coffee do you want?" He asked me, the lady on the other end typing our orders into the screen.
"Kian, I need to go to a bathroom." I pulled my seatbelt off. The stomach pains I was having were to extreme to wait until we got back home.
He let me out so he could finish taking the order and told me he'd be inside shortly. I stumbled to the bathroom, turning on the sink once I got inside. I splashed a handful of water on my cheeks, taking a deep breath of air.
"Baby, are you okay?" Kian called from outside.
As I nodded my head, a sharp pain hit my side, my body crashing against the wall. A warm rush of water fell between my legs, soaking the floor beneath me. "Kian, my water just broke." I yelled, pushing the metal door open.
Kian pulled me into his arm and helped me inside of the car, burning rubber as he sped off to the hospital. "It's gonna be okay. Take my hand." He smiled, taking a turn onto the highway.
"Kian the contractions hurt so bad." I sighed, throwing my head back in agony. He jerked the car into a parking space and helped me inside, signing us into the maternity ward.
"Hello Riley, I'm Dr. Fars, I'll be delivering your baby. Do you want an epidural?" A middle aged man came into our room, holding a clipboard.
I shook my head as he rolled over to my feet on a stool, pulling my blanket up and my legs apart. "Wow, you're ready to deliver. You're at ten centimeters already." he smiled, a few nurses in the corner crowding around me.
I watched as the doctor washed his hands and arms, pulling on a latex pair of gloves. He pulled my feet onto the birthing pedals provided and pulled my blanket up to my knees again. "On the count of three, I need you to give me a big push." He instructed me.
Once he hit three, I tightened my grip on Kian's hand and squeezed, giving my biggest push. "That was good. now I need another big push, I already see her head." His smile was big, holding my legs as a pushed a few more times.
"I can't do this, i'm too tired to push again." I cried into Kian's hand, not concentrating on my breathing as it became fast and hard. "Baby you have this, focus on your breathing before you pass out and you'll be okay." He kissed me.
I gave one more push and the doctor pulled my baby girl out, a nurse taking her away to wash her up and wrap her in a blanket. When she was done, she brought her over and placed her in my arms. "Kian, she's beautiful." I wiped away a tear, pulling him closer.
"What are you going to name her?" The doctor asked, cleaning me up as he pulled my blanket down. I looked up at Kian, clueless of what to answer with. We had bickered back and forth on what the same should be, but couldn't come up with one.
"Lucy?" He asked me.
"Lucy." I smiled, holding her closer to my chest.
