Ronnie's POV~
The car ride to school the next day was very, very loud. Mainly because Ashton was obnoxiously yelling song lyrics at the top of his lungs.
I was in tears of laughter as he pulled into the student parking lot, all the other kids giving us weird looks as Ashton parked next to Calum's car. He was still screaming lyrics as he wound his window up and turned off the ignition, causing the music to abruptly stop. Calum was casually leaning against his car as we stepped out, an amused expression on his face with one eyebrow raised.
As soon as we made eye contact, I looked down at the ground, subtly biting my lip while a slight blush crept along my cheeks. Calum fist-bumped Ash before pulling me into a side hug, causing butterflies in my stomach to erupt. The three of us walked into the school building, heading down the corridor towards where our lockers stood. Luke was already standing there by himself, nose still buried in the same book from yesterday until he felt our presence near and looked up with a small smile on his face.
The three boys launched into a heated debate over some new video game that came out a few weeks ago while I stood there, having an internal debate with myself about these sudden feelings towards Calum. Ashton made a concerned face towards me, but I shook my head, signalling for him to forget whatever question it was that he was gonna ask.
The bell soon rang, signalling the start of homeroom. Fortunately, and unknowingly on my behalf seeing as Ash and I had managed to skip it yesterday, we were all in the same class. Luke and Calum walked ahead of Ashton and I, giving Ash the chance to ask me what he was gonna ask earlier.
"The harder you think, the more wrinkles you're gonna have. What's wrong, Ronnie?"
I contemplated telling him as we made our way through the hallway, students rushing past us to make it to Homeroom before the second bell. I opened my mouth just as Ashton stopped by a set of doors.
"Tell me when we get home, okay? I don't like seeing you worried. It worries me."
I playfully roll my eyes at him as I push him through the doorway, finding Calum and Luke sitting in the back. Ashton ran forward and dived into the chair next to Luke, leaving me with a smiling Calum.
I felt the butterflies in my stomach again as I saw him smile and sat down next to him while the other students all exploded into conversation around me.
I really need to get these feelings sorted...
~~~
It wasn't until lunch time when we noticed that Anthem and Michael hadn't shown up for any classes so far that day. Luke didn't seem too worried when we asked him though.
"They're probably ditching school again. They'll be fine. If anything went wrong, Anthem would call me."
"Is that a usual thing they do though?I mean, don't their grades drop if the skip too much school?"
Calum took a bite of his burger and laughed before swallowing and answering.
"Nah. They're pretty good students. None of the teachers have any problems with it as long as their grades stay above a B and all their homework is completed on time."
Luke abruptly stood up and started gathering his things.
"That reminds me, I need to go and collect their homework from their teachers. I'll see you guys in music!"
Luke started to run towards the cafeteria doors before being yelled at by a teacher to slow down. After that he speed walked out the doors before vanishing.
"Well that was eventful. I've never seen Luke move so fast in regards to offering to get their homework before..."
Ashton was too busy shoveling both mine and his fries into his mouth to even consider what had just happened, causing Calum to throw a screwed up napkin at his head.
