The sun was just streaming through the dirty clothes we call curtains that were hung up over the window. Maggie my roommate was gone, which meant she probably had sentry duty this morning. I looked at the clock hanging on the wall, it was only eight o'clock.

"Wilson outta bed, we have scouting that needs to be done and you're goin' out to help. You have ten minutes," I hear Tom Mason yell through my door then walk away. I sighed and rolled out of bed, landing on the floor, I pick myself up and pull on my black jacket over the not quite so white tight shirt I had on and fingerless gloves. My cameo pants lay on the desk that was in mine and Maggie's room. After pulling them on, I chucked on my black combat boots and walked over to Captain Weaver's office. Inside I could hear talking and as I walked in I saw Maggie, Hal and Tom also in Captain Weaver's office.

"Come in Wilson. I want you, Hal and Maggie to take the bikes out and go scouting for food, supplies, and clothes whatever you can find we probably need," Captain says to me. Hal and Maggie nod in answer to what Captain Weaver had just said. I nod my head as well. "Dismissed."

Hal, Maggie and I walk out of his office leaving Tom in there to talk to him. It only takes a couple minutes to get to the bikes. Hal throws Maggie keys then me and we both start up the bikes and wait for Hal.

"Come on slow poke, you're holding us up," Maggie says and laughs at Hal. Everyone can see that they both have a thing for each other. But I don't think either of them want to admit it. Hal smiles and jumps on his bike, starts it and takes off. Maggie and I are close behind him. We drive into town and scout out the west side. We end up finding a supermarket, that hasn't quite been picked clean. We find a few bags of rice and around three hundred cans all up.

"Jackpot," Maggie says doing the cha-ching sign with her arm. We put as many bags of rice and cans of food that will fit into the small boxes on the back of our bikes. When we finally get back it's lunch time, and seeing as I didn't get breakfast I'm hungry as. Hal and Maggie decide to take the cans and rice to the kitchen, then go and tell Captain Weaver about the rest of the food, so they can take a truck in and load it up with it all.

Pope's serving up food that looks a lot better than our other food we were eating a few weeks ago. Today it's rice with a chicken stew thing on top, with a piece of freshly baked bread, courtesy of Pope. I sit down at a table and start eating my food, when someone sits down across from me. I look up to see Ben sitting down with his tray of food. He only just got his harness off three days ago and people keep staring at him weird. So I decided to be his mate and would hang out with him these past afternoons.

"Hey," I say and looks back at my food.

"Hey. I haven't seen you this morning. Where've you been?" he asks putting some rice and chicken stew onto his piece of bread.

"Maggie, Hal and I went scouting this morning. We did find some bags of rice and cans though," I say smiling as I shove another mouthful of chicken stew and rice into my mouth. "What about you?"

"Well, Anne wanted me to stay and be with Rick for a while, because he's been really quiet. See if I could get him to talk," he said as we kept eating. A few minutes later Hal, Maggie, Dai, Lelia and Matt joined us.

"Hey Lelia," I say to Lelia who sits across from me.

"Hey Hayden," she replies and joins in with what Hal, Maggie and Dai are talking about.

"Hey Mattie," I say as he sits next to me with a plate of food.

"Hi Hayden," he replies and eats his food. Dai, Hal, Lelia and Maggie are talking about the best way to kill a skitter. "I wish everything could go back to normal."
