Tom spun around to see a civilian man standing close to him with an angry look on his face.
"That hasn't been decided yet," Tom says back, standing face to face with this man.
"Maybe someone should decide on that," Anthony says.
"Meaning what?" asks Tom looking abit angry.
"I'm just sayin' there's another side to this. Look skitters want kids, right?" Anthony continues.
"So what now our kids are a problem?" Mike asks angrily cutting in.
"They're targets, we all know that," Anthony says camly to Mike.
"No we're all targets," Tom says to Anthony.
Ben and Lelia come over to me.
"Hey," Lelia says in a whisper.
"Hey," I reply quietly. "Hi Ben."
"What's happening?" He asks focused on what's going on between Tom and Anthony.
"A civilian just complained about sending his kid away after just getting-" I'm cut off by what Tom says.
"Look. I'm sending my three boys and daughter with Clayton here so they'll be safer. Have your children ready by tomorrow morning. They'll leave at seven hundred hours," Tom yells over the loud crowd and then walks inside with a bunch of people following after him.
Lelia, Ben and I watch as everyone disperses and I turn to Lelia. Ben looks between me and Lelia.
"I'll see you guys later. I have some stuff I need to do," Ben says quietly but in a harsh tone. He gives Lelia a smile before walking off.
"So I guess we need to pack our stuff into a bag for tomorrow," I say and we start to walk inside.
"Pack what? We don't have anything to pack. I'm sick of living with nothing. I hate it," Lelia says and when I look at her she's tearing up. I put my arm around her shoulders and she leans into my hold.
"Hey, don't worry. We'll be fine, we do what we have to do to survive and we just gotta stick it out okay," I replied and Lelia moves away and wipes the tears under her eyes.
"Yeah you're right."
"When am I wrong," I say with a grin and Lelia laughs a little before we're interupted.
"Lelia," Matt yells and runs over to us. Lelia kneels in front of Matt making sure she looks okay.
"What is it Matt?" Lelia asks with concern laced in her voice.
"Is it true we have to leave Dad tomorrow?" Matt asks and in his face I see the scared look.
"Don't worry Matt, everything will be just fine, okay," Lelia says and it's like she's telling Matt that but also reminding herself that it's gotta turn out okay.
I leave the two of them and when I look back over my shoulder Lelia is hugging Matt.
Maggie shakes me awake the next morning. I swat her hands away and roll over into the pillow.
"Five minutes," I mumble into the pillow and Maggie laughs.
"Sorry Hayden, you're leaving soon and you need to be up. So come on," Maggie replies and kicks at the bed. I roll over and look at her from beneath the covers of the bed.
"You suck," I say and poke my tongue at her.
"Very mature, now get outta bed before I get Hal," Maggie threatens and I throw the covers back and swing my legs over the side of the bed. "Good girl."
