Scene 25: Turning the Tide

"Terra, what do you think you're doing away from your post?" Cheshire demanded.

"We got this under control, little girl," said Sportsmaster. "You don't have any business here."

But Raven already knew why Terra had left her post. Right from the moment she had made her entrance, she had sensed strong hatred. All that hatred was connected to Beast Boy, and anyone he cared about.

She simply couldn't pass an opportunity like this. She was simply looking forward to making him suffer. Then she would attack her, followed by Kid Flash and Wonder Girl.

But there was something else. Terra, it seemed had disobeyed a direct order from her superiors. Raven did not know too much about the H.I.V.E., but one thing she was sure of was that defiance was only met with death. You turned your back on the H.I.V.E., and they would not let you live to regret it. It seemed Terra had crossed that line, but she didn't seem to care.

"Sorry, guys, but these four are all mine," said Terra, her eyes fixed on Beast Boy, then she glanced at Cheshire and Sportsmaster. "If you both want to live, don't get in my way."

To Raven's surprise Beast Boy stepped forward, his eyes meeting Terra's. She wanted to say something to warn him. She could tell Terra was eager to kill him. She could let him make it easy for her. But before she could think of anything, he was already talking to Terra.

"What's your problem, Terra?" he demanded of her. "First you say you want Brother Blood to succeed so you can have all the free reign to wreak havoc with your powers. Now you betray him just so you can kill us all yourself? All for what? Whose side are you even on now?"

Terra simply glared at him, but she lowered the boulder she was levitating. "Since you won't live long enough to find out, I may as well tell you. I first joined the H.I.V.E. to gain more power so I could learn new ways to use my powers against others. But when I was assigned to infiltrate your precious tower, all I wanted was the opportunity to kill all of you myself."

She turned back to Cheshire and Sportsmaster, then down to Raven and the others. "As of right now, I am my own agent. Brother Blood is no longer my master."

And that was when she had all hell break loose. Terra raised the boulder she had been levitating high above her head. Clenching her fists, she broke the boulder into smaller pointed rocks. Gesturing around the room at large, she released the rocks down on everyone she reach.

At this point, Cheshire and Sportsmaster were not presently interested in the heroes. Instead, like them, they went on the evasive. Cheshire moved acrobatically away from any rock that came her way. As for her father, Sportsmaster, he knocked aside any rocks he could with his chained ball. For those he could not, he simply moved out of their way.

Behind her, Kid Flash and Beast Boy were doing their best to stay out of Terra's onslaught. While Beast Boy outmaneuvered anything that came at him by turning into different animals, Kid Flash moved around the room as fast as he could.

Raven could see what he was doing. He was pulling all the unconscious H.I.V.E. agents out of the line of fire. Within seconds, the room was completely cleared of them.

Meanwhile, now that she was freed from Cheshire, Wonder Girl had dove to move away from one boulder that would've taken her in the back, allowing her to retrieve her lasso. Now she was watching for incoming boulders, using her bracelets to deflect anything that came her way.

Unfortunately, out of all of her targets, Raven could sense that Wonder Girl was the most vulnerable Terra's strikes. She would have to move and make sure she didn't get hurt.

Surrounding herself in dark energy, the daughter of Trigon disappeared briefly from Terra's sight. She reappeared behind Wonder Girl, just before the latter could be saved from being impaled in the stomach by a particularly sharp rock. Raven was able to shield them both, and the rock crashed harmlessly on the other end.
