Trust me you don't want to get yourself involved with Ashton. He's trouble.

Alice's words from earlier stuck in my head the rest of the day. I walked home after school as the thought lingered in my mind.

He's trouble.

I arrived at my house and walked upstairs to my now furnished room. I opened my window to let some air in and I sat down on my bed and plugged in my iPod. I turned on 'Since U Been Gone' by Kelly Clarkson and belted out the lyrics.

Here's the thing we started off friends
It was cool but it was all pretend
Yeah yeah Since you've been gone

You dedicated you took the time
Wasn't long till I called you mine
Yeah yeah Since you've been gone

And all you'd ever hear me say
Is how I pictured me with you
That's all you'd ever hear me say

But since you've been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you now I get what I want
Since you've been gone

How can I put it? You put me on
I even fell for that stupid love song
Yeah yeah Since you've been gone

How come I'd never hear you say?
I just wanna be with you
I guess you never felt that way

But since you've been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you now I get,
I get what I want
Since you've been gone

You had your chance you blew it
Out of sight, out of mind
Shut your mouth I just can't take it
Again and again and again and again

"Wow, Livia, you've got some pipes," I was startled by a voice outside. I ran to the window to find the source of the voice. I looked up and saw Ashton standing in the neighbor's window right across from mine.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him, turning my iPod off.

"Well I was just hanging out in my room when I heard someone start singing so angelically, I just had to check it out," he said.

"Wait, you live there?" I asked, surprised.

"Yep," he said popping the 'p', "neighbor!"

I shook my head. I can't believe Ashton lives next door and his bedroom window is directly across from mine. "This ought to be fun," I smiled sarcastically.

"Oh it will," he turned around I walked across his room. He came back with a long piece of wood. He stuck it out the window and slid it across until it reached my window, like a bridge.

Ashton crawled up onto the piece of wood and started to cross the bridge to my room.

"What are you doing?" I gasped and yelled at him. He just laughed and continued to crawl across the board. He got to the end and jumped off into my room. "Oh my gosh," I pushed Ashton, "What is wrong with you?" I giggled.

"What? My best friend Daniel used to live here and we always used to sneak between houses all the time," he added innocently. He sat down on my bed and started to mess with my iPod. "I want you to sing again."

"I don't sing in front of people."

"You were singing in front of me a minute ago," he tried to convince me with an adorable smile.

"That doesn't count. I didn't know you were there," I refused.

"Come on, it's not any different!" he whined, "Please just one song. I just..."

"Livia!" I heard my stepdad call from downstairs. I started to hear his heavy footsteps going up the stairs.

"He will kill me and you if he sees you, get in the closet," I commanded Ashton and he followed my orders. I slid the curtains closed and luckily they concealed the board hanging from my window. I sat down on my bed as I heard David's hand on the door knob.

"Hey Livia," he entered, "how was your first day of school?"

"Good."

"Are you sure?"

"Yep."

"Did you make friends yet?"

"Yeah, one or two."

"Okay well bye sweetie."

"Bye."

He awkwardly left and Ashton came out of my closet. He sat by me on my bed, "Wow, sorry I had to eavesdrop on that heartfelt father-daughter moment there," Ashton said sarcastically.

"He's my stepdad, and we don't really get along too well," I explained.

"Ahh," Ashton said.

"Okay, you can leave now," I playfully pushed Ashton.

"You didn't sing for me," he said, resting his arm across my shoulders.

"Ash, I can't, not when my family's home. I was home alone earlier and now I'm not," thank goodness David got home, "Maybe tomorrow, but not now, go back to your own house."

"Fine Goodbye, Livia," Ashton gave me an unexpected hug and crawled back across the bridge. He got to his room and slid the board back across the gap. I shut my window, not wanting another unexpected visit from Ashton.
