"Hey Livia," Ashton winked as I walked into the classroom. I continued to my desk in the back without even acknowledging him. Ashton spent the entire class period trying to get my attention, while I spent the entire class period trying to ignore him.

When the final bell rang, I tried to escape the classroom before Ashton could catch me, but I failed. As I got into the hall I felt Ashton's hand wrap around my arm.

"What's wrong?" he turned me around to look at him but I refused to look him in the eyes. I crossed my arms and stayed silent. Ashton tried to move his head into my line of vision, but I continued to look away.

"Livia!" he now held both of my hands. "What's wrong?"

I looked up at him and saw that Michael was right and Ashton had used some cheap makeup to try and cover his black eye from yesterday.

"Ash..." I try to figure out the right words to say. "I..."

"Liv," Ashton started to rub the back of my hand with his thumb.

"Why did you beat up Michael?"

Ashton dropped my hands and his face filled with worry. The worry quickly turned to anger, "He told you?" Ashton spit.

"No, I saw him lying on the ground, beat up in the hallway," I was starting to get angry too. Ashton just rolled his eyes. "Ashton, why would you do that?"

"Livia, he was trying to make you hate me. I didn't want him coming between us," he grabbed my hands and tried to persuade me that it was the right thing to do.

I ripped my hands from his, "Ashton! Do you really think that Michael's opinion of you meant anything to me?" I waited for his response.

Silence.

"I wasn't going to listen to what anyone said. I was going to let you show me who you really are, but you've clearly done that."

"You can't just leave me like that."

"Ashton I gave you a chance when everyone was telling me not to and you blew it."

"I saved your life yesterday and now you're just leaving me," he grabbed one of my hands. "Livia, I need you."

"You did save my life and I can't thank you enough but I can't do this. Whatever it is that was going on between us is over."

I turned and started to walk away. Ashton grabbed my arm and turned me around. I tried to get away but he crashed his lips into mine. I felt the sparks start to erupt in my stomach as I melted into his kiss, but I snapped myself out of it and turned back and kept walking.

"Livia..." Ashton cried out in desperation as I continued into the cafeteria.

I saw Michael sitting alone across the room. I plopped myself down in the seat next to him and nearly started crying.

"Everything alright?" Michael asked.

I sighed, "no..." holding back the lump in my throat.

"Ashton?" he guessed.

"Ashton," I nodded.

"Hey, so Ashton dumped you already?" the mean girl from lunch yesterday, Destiny, I think, leaned across the table as she walked by. I wanted to lean across the table and slap the wicked smirk off her face.

I watched her walk across the cafeteria and sit extra close to Ashton at his table. And I saw her turn around and make sure I was watching.

"Hey, I don't know if you're busy or would be interested, but Cal's having a party tomorrow night because my parents are going out of town. So if you'd like to come hang out..." Michael awkwardly trailed off.

"Are you sure I'm like allowed to come? I'm just the new girl still."

"Well I don't know if I'm even allowed, but it's my house, so I can invite whoever I want," he chuckled.

"I'd love to come then."

"Ooh, who's this?" a girl chirped as she sat down next to Michael.

"Oh hey, this is Livia. Livia, this is Jo."

"Livia?" Jo pondered, "Aren't you the girl who's dating Ashton Irwin?"

"How do you know that?"

"Um Ashton Irwin is only the most popular kid in school. Everyone knows when he gets a new girlfriend."

I sighed and put my head down again, "Well we were never really dating and what ever it was, it's over."

"I'm sorry to hear that. He is just beautiful," she sighed dreamily. She turned and looked at Michael. "Mikey, what happened to your face?!"

"Mr. Beautiful and my step-brother were slamming it into a locker earlier," Michael answered smartly.

"Calum and Ashton did this? Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" she started gently rubbing and patting and feeling Michael's face.

Chucking, he gently grabbed her wrists and pulled her hands off his face, "I'm fine," he smiled.

Jo smiled back and started to eat her lunch. She was really pretty. She had long dark brown hair that was purple at the ends. She was small and cute and was dressed very colorfully.

She kept looking up at Michael and smiling while she ate. "Mikey, are you sure you're alright?" Jo asked so sweetly.

Michael smiled and nodded back. They were so cute. Did he say she was his girlfriend?

"Wait are you two dating?"

They both kind of stared at me for a second before their faces started blushing and they both started in a fit of nervous "oh no"s and "of course not"s and "we're just really close friends"s. After that was just a really awkward silence.

Lunch ended and we got up and left with very awkward goodbyes. As Jo walked away down the hall, I saw Michael watching at her with the cutest look of infatuation on his face.
