Hana and Maeko walked through the dense underbrush, Hana clutching Maeko's hand. She had just slid out of her bedroom window with some dude. No, not some dude. Maeko. She could trust him.

Maeko stopped, looking around. "Okay, it's safe. We can rest." He sat down heavily against a tree, his eyes unfocused. Hana sat down next to him. She put her head on his shoulder.

"Maeko?"
"Yeah?"
"Where are we going?"
"Home. To my village."
"Is that safe? Will your kind welcome a human?" She had to tell him, but how to tell someone who isn't human, that you're not human either?
"Um...Maeko?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I tell you something?"
"Sure."
"Uh... I don't know how to put this, but I'm not a human girl. I'm a Okamimimi, or wolf person. Don't be mad or anything. I should have told you earlier." She looked away, of into the distance.
Maeko took her hand in his own. "Hana, I know."
"How?"
"I can sense the wild spirit in your soul. Let it free. We don't have to go back." Maeko pulled her into a hug. Hana sobbed.

"Hey why are you crying? It'll be okay," said Maeko. He took Hana's face in his hands. His hand wiped away her tears. "Why are you crying?", he prompted.

A racking sob came from Hana. Maeko pulled her into his arms. "Hey, it's alright.", he soothed. He stroked her hair as her breathing slowed and a small snore came from her throat.

He gently lay her on the ground, giving her his jacket as a pillow. Then he stood up and walked a few feet away.

He started pacing. Then threw up his hands in frustration. Why couldn't he make a decision?! He needed to know if it was safe for Hana, now that she had confirmed his suspicions. He didn't think it was safe to take himself to his village, less his kinds natural enemy. But Hana wasn't evil. She wasn't bad.

His eyes wandered back to her. She was so cute, laying in a ray of moonlight. He shook his head. I can't have feelings her.., can I? He sat down next to her, protecting her from harm.
