It had been a long, tiring day for the whole village. Winter was coming and they had to prepare for the worst. The guards had to train, the elders teach the young ones how to prepare, keeping them away from the working adults.

Maeko sat near the fire, a cool breeze flowing through the open window. Hana walked in, her feet silent. Maeko looked up, his tired face softening. "Hey."

Hana smiled and sat next to him, handing him a glass of water. "Hey."

Maeko took the glass, draining it. "How are the trainees doing?"

Hana sighed deeply, her mood changing drastically. "I have no clue. Some seem to hold promise, others... I don't know. Silver shows great promise."

Maeko stood up, reaching down to help Hana up. He pulled Hana into an embrace. The room was silent as the two stood in each other's arms. "Hana?," someone called from outside the door.

Hana stepped away, warmth spreading on her cheeks. "Uh.. sorry Maeko, I have to go," she said, awkwardly stepping towards the door. Maeko took hold of her arm and pulled her to him.

Hana's eyes flew open when his lips met hers in a gentle kiss.

Maeko let go, his eyes bright. Hana blushed, eyes at the floor. Maeko picked her head up and kissed her again.

They pulled apart, Hana looking towards the door. "Umm..."

She was interupted but Maeko puting one finger on her lips, then pushing her towards the door. "Goodnight, Hana."
