Chapter 13
Carter’s POV
I felt happy. After a long time, I felt happy. And this wasn’t the kind of happiness you get when you chocolate, it was that kind of happiness that wiped all darkness from your heart and mind and makes you pure again.
Iris had said she wanted to be with me and that’s all I needed to hear yesterday night. I skipped down the halls to my car. I texted Nick that I was coming to school. He’d probably be worried.
I reached the school after a few minutes. Nick was standing outside the school. When he saw me, he ran towards me frantically.
‘What happened? Is she okay? Did-’ he stopped in the middle of his sentence and looked at me curiously.
‘What?’ I asked.
‘Iris is in hospital and you’re smiling? Did you even go to see her?’ he shouted, looking extremely pissed.
‘Um, I did go to see her and I am smiling because of her,’ I replied.
‘What? I’m confused. Start explaining, young man,’ he ordered.
I raised my eyebrow threateningly at him.
‘Okay, okay, just tell me, would you?’ he said.
‘She said she liked me and she wanted to be with me and she said that she was forced the other night.’
‘Okay, I get it you’re happy. But don’t you want to know who threatened her?’
Realisation dawned at me. I was so indulged in my happiness that I totally missed that fact.
‘Well, you can’t fuss over that right now. Let’s go to class. We’ll go to Iris after school and then we can ask her. Okay?’
I just nodded and followed him to class. Miss Hughlock was as sweet as usual. I was an asshole but I respected teachers. I took notes during the classes and just studied. I didn’t have to learn this stuff. As soon as I heard it, it was imprinted on my brain; it’s a Titium thing.
I was currently sitting on my lunch table. All of Nick’s friends surrounded him. A slut was clinging to his arm as if her life depended on it. A blondie took the seat next to me.
‘That seat’s taken,’ I said sternly.
‘I didn’t know. Well, finder keepers, loser weepers,’ she replied in an ‘I-don’t-give-a-shit’ tone.
She moved her chair closer to me and faced me. She bent forwards in an attempt to show some cleavage. She rubbed my leg with hers. She gave me a slutty smile. Her constant attempts to arouse me were pissing me off.
I pushed her chair so it was a foot away from me. I glared at her and she whimpered like a little kitten.
‘What’s your problem bitch? Don’t you get that I don’t like you and I don’t want to do anything with that STD filled face of yours?’ I didn’t know I was shouting till I realised everyone was looking at me.
I picked up my back pack and walked out of the cafeteria. I saw Nick following me. I didn’t stop for him and sat down beside the nearest tree. I took out the sandwich my grandma had made for me and started munching on it, ignoring the angry looking Nick hovering over me.
‘What do you want?’ I asked after I realised he wasn’t going to go away.
‘Why are you so rude to girls?’ he asked.
‘Because they are not girls, they are sluts who can’t keep their hands to themselves. Isn’t it good that they stay away from me and I stay away from them?’
