Lesson 21: Be Stranded Out At Sea?

I continued to yell but it didn't matter how much I cried out; no one could hear me. The lack of civilisation was unusual, surely someone would need to use the restroom eventually. I suddenly realized I had a mobile phone and wanted to shoot myself for my stupidity but there wasn't any reception in the first place.

I sat cross legged and hoped that the boat hits a rock so I could be found but the journey ensued. I wondered if Carter had noticed my prolonged absence and was searching for me. This gave me the urge to relentlessly call out again.

"HELP! CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? PLEASE, ANYBODY?" I shouted.

"Bree?" A voice called out. I jumped to my feet. It was Carter.

"Carter! I'm down here, on a lifeboat! Can you help me?" I yelled. His faced met my vision, I sighed in relief. "Thank goodness you're here," I breathed out.

He didn't look happy to see me. "What are you doing down there?" He questioned.

"Makayla. It's a long story. Can you help me?" I asked. I had to crane my head up dangerously to meet his gaze. The piercing sun made me squint.

Carter calculated that it was pointless to reach out his hand. "I'll see if I could find anyone or if I could find some rope. Hang in there, okay? You'll be fine."

I nodded and believed him. He left my view and I waited. I heard a snap. My eyes widened alarmingly when I saw that the rope was hanging on a single thread. "Carter! Hurry!" I screamed.

I looked around urgently to see if there was anything helpful. I noticed a box. I kneeled down to open the supply box which was practically empty. I groaned but caught sight of a drawer. I yelped as a metal spike jutted out and clawed my thigh. I retreated and traced my fingers along the horrible gnash.

I tried not to wince as blood started to ooze out. I didn't mind blood but the current situation didn't help. A horrible ache invaded my stomach. I felt sick. But I had no time to embrace the feeling. The rope at the right side snapped causing the boat to tilt. I shrieked.

"Carter! Where are you? Help me!" I began to panic. I looked below and saw nothing but merciless waves.

"Bree!" I looked up and saw Carter. He chucked down a rope but it was too short. He climbed on the rails but it didn't make a difference. I extended my hand out, but the rope was miles away. Carter climbed over the railings.

"Carter! Get back on the boat! You'll fall into the ocean!" I yelled out. He didn't listen to me. He angled his foot to the circular ledge of a window. My heart started to thud.

Gosh, he's so stupid.

"Grab the rope Bree," he urged. With all my might I pulled myself up so my hand could grab onto the rope.

I caught it. Carter looked down at me and I wished he hadn't. His eyes unfocused and he slipped.

So you could imagine, the rope snapped and we practically fell to our deaths. The boat nested in the water, I quickly shuffled to the side so Carter didn't fall on top of me.

As soon as he stood up straight I gave him a look. "You're crazy," I stated.

"You can tell me how crazy I am in a bit. I think now is a good time to shout out," Carter pointed out absently. I sighed but agreed with him. I got onto my feet and started to shout with Carter.

"HELLO! CAN YOU HERE US? HELP!" We screamed. We did this until the boat was at least 100 metres away. Why couldn't anyone hear us?

I dropped my hand from my mouth. I winced as it brushed across the gnash. "Ugh," I complained. I sat myself down and started at the blood.
