"Would you admit that you look great?" I laugh at Jess trying on the seventh shirt in her guest bedroom closet.
"I want one that makes me look just a little smaller."
I sigh, "You can't hide a baby." I stood up and went to her darker side of the closet, "Here." I pull out a casual short sleeve black shirt that still has room for her to move in. "Just put on a nice thick gold necklace and all the attention will be on your jewelry since it stands out more."
She tried on the shirt and put on her gold chain and a few more accessories. She sighs a smile of relief, "Wow."
"So are you about done?" I finally ask.
Her eyes lit up, "Wait! Just two more things."
I grunt as she rushes to the bathroom, "We're gonna be late for your own party Jess!"
"It's just the reveal party. We're gonna have the actual party in two weeks."
I nod as I listen to her, "But I'm hungry!" I whine.
"Okay, I'm done anyway." She said as she walked out and quickly past me. "Hurry up, we're gonna be late."
I open my mouth to speak but I'm so tongue tied that she thinks she's waiting on me. "You hurry up. I've been ready for the past hour."
"What?" She she said as she grabbed her things on her way out the door.
"Nothing." I say covering my ass. I don't want her to have another episode.
We drive over to Eric and Cindia's house as we see the pink and blue balloons outside to signal the party. As we head up the driveway I felt butterflies in my stomach just the thought of us having a gender party is just weird to me, because in all honesty I swear sometimes I think this isn't real. She's not really pregnant, she's got a mini basketball under her shirt... and somehow under her skin. It just isn't hitting me yet and I'm scared when it will. I park as I take a deep breath, "You ready?"
"Yeah.. are you?" She asked watching me take calming breaths.
I nod, "I'm good. It's just a little hot." I lie.
She nods and smile as we walk into the party and was greeted by everyone. I'm still getting the cold shoulder from my family from keeping Jessica's pregnancy on the down low. "Hey Jess." Tiara hugged her and then gave me her annoyed look, "Hi Bruno. Did you tell mom yet?"
I sigh, "Yes I told mom."
She rolls her eyes and walked away as Jaimie walked up to me for a hug, "No one likes you right now." She lightly laughs.
I chuckle, "It's not a surprise."
"I still like you though." She smiles and pulls away from the hug. "I can understand. Getting news that big while you're on tour is huge."
I looked around the room to make sure no one was eavesdropping, "We broke up." I barely whispered.
Her eyes widened, "What?" She whispers back to me.
"It's a very long story Jaimie. You know how our relationship has been. I just could do it anymore.. and.."
"What is it Bruno?" Her eyebrows arch up, concerned about me, but I feel like this might be huge for me, but so little to someone else. Am I selfish for wanting to still move on from mine and Jessica's relationship? Probably.
I take a deep breath, "I'm not in love with her anymore."
"Bruno!" She quietly hissed through her teeth as her eyes widen, "Why haven't you told anyone? We're sitting here ordering cake and decorating while you-"
