Chapter 16

It's been baby shower day non stop and now that everything is finally done, I just want to take everything back home and relax.

As soon as all the baby gifts are stuffed inside my car, I get a group text. "Studio in an hour."

I roll my eyes and sigh as I heard Jessica's voice behind me, "What's wrong?"

I close the trunk before turning to look at her, "I have to go to the studio."

Her eyebrows furrowed, "But this is your last night! They can't speak to you tomorrow?"

I shook my head, "This is routine. I have to see them before we leave."

She swallows hard before walking to the passenger side as I followed her and opened the door before she could reach the handle. "Thanks.." She barely whispers as she plops into her seat.

After I drop off Jess and got help from Eric to unload everything into my house, I followed him to the studio as I got a text from the Paris postal service saying that the package I sent made it to its destination.

I felt my heart sink, just thinking of seeing Brooklyn again, together or not, it still hurts.

"Hey." Eric stopped me before walking into the studio.

I turned to look at him as I look up to him, "What's up?"

"Jaimie told me -- well she accidentally brought it up."

I shook my head confused, "Told you what?"

He shook his head, "C'mon Bruno." He says disappointingly, "You and Jess? Why is she still living with you?"

I sigh as I looked down at the concrete, "She wanted a second chance, but I'm just gonna help her with the baby and.." I sigh trying to think of excuses.

"Stop fooling yourself Bruno... You're gonna have a beautiful healthy baby but that isn't going to fix anything between you and Jess."

"I know, its just-"

The door flies open as I seen Phil walk Urbana out, "I'll call you later baby, okay? Love you."

He kisses her as I look away as Eric and I put a smile on our faces as Urbana walked by, "Good luck guys." She smiles before walking to her car.

"See ya later Banana." She laughs while getting in her car as she looks at me and shakes her head.

"What y'all doin out here, being all secretive?"

I roll my eyes, "Jess."

"Wait, he knows?" Eric asks defensively.

I shrug, "You are busy with your family, I don't want to bring you into this."

"Bruno, we all just threw a baby shower for Jess.. The girls were sitting there talking to Jess about marriage! How is this now weird?"

"Does it mean you wouldn't throw one for my daughter if you guys knew ahead of time that Jess and I were broken up?"

Eric's eyes widen as Phil quickly interrupts, "Hey man, c'mon. Everything happened so fast and everyone was busy.. People make mistakes, he forgot."

Eric sighs, "Alright, just promise me you're not just letting her live with you because she's making you feel bad."

I shook my head, "I promise." As we all took a deep breath, Eric turned to walk into the building as Phil gave me his big worried eyes. I shook my head at him as we followed Eric into a long meeting.
