Whenever I feel afraid, I hold my head erect, and whistle a happy tune and no one ever knows I'm afraid. The result of this deception is very strange to tell, for when I fool the people I fear, I fool myself as well •I woke up to a very damp thing working it's way all over my face. And by damp I don't mean a little moist, no. I mean downright wet. Veryyy wet.
"Juni, you get off me this instant! Bad dog! I need my beauty sleep, I've got school tomorrow!", I said rubbing my eyes and trying to get up. I repeat, trying to get up because my fatass of a Labrador was sprawled on me. Don't get me wrong I love Juni, I do. I'm just not a morning person, that's all.
"But honey, you don't start school tomorrow, it's today. It's 7:00 and you have to get there by 8:30", someone said.
I jumped up, eyes flying open, wide awake.
"Oh my god! Juni! I always knew you could talk! Oh, let me go get mom!"I ran towards my door only to bump into something, someone.
I look up to see my mom looking at me with a mildly amused expression.
"MOM! Oh, you won't believe it. Juni talked to me!"
"He did, huh?"
"Yes! I always knew he did! I mean, after I watched Cats and Dogs. But that's not the point. Juni talks!"
"Josey, calm down. I was the one talking. Not him."
"What? Bu...but he told me I have school today", I say in a somewhat sheepish way. It all makes sense now. Obviously, it was mom.
"Yes, he sure did. Now, off the bed. Go get ready. You're gonna take time to make yourself presentable and the school's an hour away from home anyway, so hurry okay?"
I roll my eyes and get off the bed.
I go to the washroom and do the business. I then proceedto brush my teeth and take a shower. This was going to be a good day. I will make it a good day. Who was I kidding? I was so fucking nervous. I felt like I was going to throw up. I have never had any major changes in my life and this was one big hell of a change.
I dried my hair with the blow drier on high to save time. I put on some mascara and a hint of baby pink lip gloss.
I wore a pair of black shorts with a floral pattern, a black crop top and a light blue denim shirt and black Vans.
I took a look at myself in the mirror. I was 5'7, neither short nor very tall, baby blue eyes and dark hair. And I had no problem with the way I looked. I looked like...me. I was going to start a whole new life here. A very happy one, hopefully. I took a deep breath."Oookay, Josey. Let's roll."
