The Doctor slowly opened his eyes. He turned in his bed to face the window. The sun was already almost fully up. He got out of bed, still tired, probably because his circadian rhythm, or his 'body clock', had been thrown off thanks to Discord.
The Doctor really didn't want to think about Discord. After all, he had been completely useless while Discord was active, and couldn't even help to stop him. He had felt so helpless.
The Doctor walked across the hall and into the bathroom. As he walked down the hall, he noticed the amazing smell of blueberry pancakes coming from downstairs in the kitchen.
He entered the bathroom, and walked over to the sink. He looked into the mirror and saw he had slight bags under his eyes. He also noticed a slight pain in his ear, but he ignored it. It wasn't too painful after all.
The Doctor washed his hooves, splashed some water into his face, then left the bathroom and headed downstairs.
When he entered the kitchen, his nose was filled with the sweet smell of blueberries and maple syrup. Derpy, Dinky, and Sparkler were all already in the kitchen, with a plateful of pancakes in front of them.
"Good morning, sleepy-head," Derpy said with a big smile.
"Good morning," the Doctor said, noticing the pain in his ear increasing slightly.
"You don't look so good," Derpy said. "Why don't I get you some coffee." She got out of her chair and started heading over to the coffee machine. On her way over she tripped over her own hooves and ran into the counter, nearly knocking a glass onto the floor.
"It's okay Ditzy," the Doctor quickly said, making his way over to the coffee machine. "I've got it."
"Okay, Doc," Derpy replied, heading back to her seat. Ever since the incident in Canterlot, Derpy had become clumsier, and her eyes seemed even more out of harmony with each other. It was as if what happened in Canterlot, whatever it was, had triggered something in her brain.
Before the Doctor even reached the coffee maker, the pain in his ear suddenly spiked. The Doctor groaned and grasped the counter so he wouldn't fall over.
"Doctor, are you okay?" Derpy asked, heading over to him.
"It's just some ear pain," the Doctor replied, but then the pain began to spread. "Okay," he said, obviously in a lot of pain. "It's more than just my ear."
As the pain grew, the world around the Doctor started to lose color, and all sounds faded into the background. Eventually, the pain became so intense, the Doctor couldn't handle it.
As he closed his eyes, he saw a flash of light, then everything turned to black.
