Vanessa gasped when she got near the boat and saw two mermaids. The boat had stopped moving and she saw the mermaids hitting the boat, making the dents bigger and bigger each time they hit it. Are they planning on sinking the boat? She pushed her forwards and when she got closer, the two mermaids turned their heads and looked at her. Not happy.
She grabbed one of their arms and pulled her away, shaking her head quickly as she glared at the mermaid.
Both mermaids glared back, Out of the way, Vanessa.
Vanessa shook her head and kept waving her arms for them to go away.
Why aren’t you helping us?, the other mermaid asked. This is your land, you should be protecting it.
Vanessa stared at the two mermaids and brought her hands up to her ears as she squeezed her eyes shut, just wishing they would go away and stop making her feel so guilty. She didn't want to think they were right and let them think they got to her because she does care. She doesn't want human or the fish of the sea hurt.
Vanessa, she heard one of the mermaids voice. Calm and gentle, almost a way a mother would to do a child who was scared or hurt. She felt her soft hands wrapped around her wrist and pulled her hands away from her ears as Vanessa opened her eyes, We know you do care and it is hard for you. It was hard for all of us, but your kin comes first. We will always be here, these humans wont. Trust us.
Vanessa lowered her head and she thought about what the mermaid had said. She had completely forgotten about who was on that boat, she could only think about all the poor fishies that were going to die because of her selfishness.
Your the special one, Vanessa, the mermaid said, cupping her face in her hands gently. We don't want you hurt out here while your still transforming, so you should just go back to land
Vanessa bit her bottom lip and was about to shrug, nodding her head when suddenly the other mermaid pulled the other mermaid away from Vanessa, Catherine!
Something suddenly very hit Vanessa's head and draped around her. She gasped, panicking as her arms flew everywhere, trying to take whatever was on her off her. She could feel her fingers sliding out of holes and she finally looked around to notice she was in some net.
Vanessa!, she heard both mermaids and they swam up in front of her. Vanessa gave them a scared look, it was a terrifying she realized and wonders if this how fish fell. Feel trap and scared. It could have been easy to get it off her but she was to scared to do anything but get herself caught in the net even more.
Stop struggling, your making yourself more tighter in the net, the one name Catherine said as they tried to take the net off her.
Vanessa made herself stiffen up so she would stop moving, but she was still shaking a little when they put their hands into the holes and started ripping at the net. The net was moving, making Vanessa cry out since it was doing it quickly and they tried ripping it at it fast.
They were getting closer to the surface and they both gasped before pulling away, probably to scared to get notice from the sailors.
Vanessa felt a cold breeze as she came out of the water and her head quickly snapped up when she came eye to eye contact with a shock Raphael. Vanessa eyes widen and she froze in fear. Her scaly tails and arms were out in the open and he was staring at them as if—well as if she had scales on her body! And her feet weren't really human anymore.
She opened her mouth, but all it came out was a small squeak sound. She tried to swallow the lump in her throat, but it felt very big and dry like a big pill.
