Vanessa took a few steps into her school and everyone around looked at her. Her face flushed and she wanted to go hide. Everyone seem to look at her weirdly thought, not the pity and noise look, but with wonder. She wanted badly to go to a mirror and see if there was something suppose to be on her face.
She walked around people and went to her locker. She grabbed her stuff she needed and she saw Adalyn walking down the hall, some of the people giving her the same look. It didn’t help that Adalyn was fashion model beauty.
She walked past Vanessa with a smile on her face when she looked at her and Vanessa gave her a small smile back. She remembered yesterday, remembering how free she felt and didn’t have a care with in a the world because she wasn’t in her same world, she was in a different one. A much better one.
She couldn’t wait till the end of school, she wanted to go back so badly.
She made her way to class and ignore the stares she was getting. Okay, so maybe she looks a little different. She use to be invisible to these people, but what’s making her stand out so much?
She walked into class which was with Adalyn who was the desk—with a small box of seashell. “Aren’t they pretty.”, she asked, rubbing her fingers over the shell as she stared down at the pink and white shell with a hint of blue around the edges. “I found them in a store, I plan to make them into a necklace.”.
“Uh, okay.”, she said. “Adalyn, why is everyone staring at me?’.
“You’re glowing.”, she hummed.
“Huh?”, she asked, panic rasing.
She chuckle and looked up at her, “Okay, not really. There’s this invisible enchanting glow around you that’s catching their attention, making them look at you. You’re a mermaid, it’s comes with the gift.”.
“Well, how do I—I don’t know, turn it off?”, she asked.
“You make it.”, she said as if was the simplest thing on earth and Vanessa raised an eyebrow. She chuckled, “Nessa, just tell it.”.
“Say it?”, she asked and Adalyn nodded. “Okaaay. Glowly thing, turn off.”, she said, then turned her head around to look at her classmate, seeing everyone had difently stopped staring at her—well most of them did. A few boys were staring still.
She turned back to Adalyn, a little annoyed. She shrugged, “What? Your are stunning looking, your were before, but being who you are, it make it more beautiful. The boys aren’t being enchanted, they actually think your beautiful. ”.
“Oh.”, she said, blushing as she brushed one side of her behind her ear and went to her seat.

Vanessa walked into the Rita’s shop and both Cameron and Shayna gasped, running over to her and grabbed her, pulling her into a tight hug.
“Don’t give us another heart attack!”, Shayna said.
“Yeah.”, Cameron said. “What were you think going out that far into the water? Are you crazy?”.
Vanessa opened her mouth, but Shayne spoke, “What happened to you? Girl, I don’t you were in a dangerous situation, but damn, did you get tan while out there? I mean your so beautiful and stunning looking, almost magical.”.
