The Last Mermaid.

{XX} The Last Mermaid of Coasta Sirenas.

'Hey this is Raphael, sorry I missed your call. Leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can' his voicemail said and Vanessa frowned, almost crying. She was hoping to talk to Raphael before the moon lands in the east. She has until ten o'clock tonight but she has been spending the day calling him but he hasn't answered.

She felt like she's going to be sick. She wasn't sure if it was her transformation or nerves, but she felt like throwing up. She only has three hours left when she looked up at the clock above the TV. She bit her bottom lip and ran her hand threw her hair.

Her dad came downstairs, ''Nessa, you look pale. Are you getting sick?" her father asked, putting her hand on her forehead.

She almost choked on a sob and she reached up, grabbing his hand in both of hers, ''Daddy, I love you. Always know that, that your the best father in the whole world.''

''Nessa?" he questioned.

''No matter what, even if I. . .change into someone else tomorrow, know I'll always love you.'' she said since she was unsure of her destiny after sprouting a tail.

''Vanessa, where are you going with this? What are you trying to say?" he asked and she bit her cheek. ''You can talk to me, you don't need to be scared.''

''I am though.'' she admitted finally.

Vanessa saw Adalyn walking down her street. She looked like an angel in the beautiful white dress and her hair pulled back in a braid. She walked up Vanessa's porched and leaned against the frame, ''Ready?"

Vanessa looked at her door where light was coming threw and she heard the TV since her dad was watching Modern Family. She bit her trembling bottom lip and nodded.

She got up from the swing and she followed next to Adalyn to the beach.

''I'm sorry if this wasn't what you expect.'' she said. ''You are important to us to, Vanessa, we love you.''

''You never asked.'' she said and Adalyn looked confused. ''You didn't asked if I wanted to be a mermaid. You just watched every girl in school and picked me.''

''Destiny choose you.'' she said. ''The gift wanted you, it choose you for a reason. I trust destiny and I believe in you Vanessa.'' She then grabbed Vanessa's arm and turned her so Vanessa will have to look at her, ''You will be the greatest mermaid out there next to Queen Severina, you're pretty much a princess.''

''Don't feel very royal.'' she said.

''You are.'' she said, turning Vanessa around and started to french braid her hair. Vanessa liked the way Adalyn fingers felt running threw her hair, She was gentle, like a mother. Made her feel relax but she forced her guard up.

When Adalyn finished, she turned Vanessa back around. She let loose some strains of hair from the braid, framing her face.

''Come.'' she said.

Adalyn lead Vanessa to the rocky part of the beach where no one goes. She quickly see Queen Severina near the water, her back facing her with her hands out. Twelve or so mermaids around. All of them beautiful and dangerous, fierce and confident. Vanessa knew they all had a story like her and they've been in this situation before.

''Vanessa, the some of the others are here to support you. When the moon hits east of the sky, we will help you get threw it.'' Adalyn said and Vanessa looked at each of them.

The youngest, fourteen maybe, had brown skin, beautiful wavy brown hair going down to her waist,  stepped towards her, ''Vanessa, it is so great to meet you.'' she said, walking over to her with a tiara comb in her hand. It was beautiful with crystal blue diamonds. ''For you.'' she said, reaching up and tucked it in her head. ''Layla, I like to be called Layla.'.
