Jane went to bed feeling very strange that night. She couldn't figure out why she wasn't allowed to talk to Ethan. Before she went to bed she looked out her window to see Ethan standing next to his bed running his fingers through his hair while reading a book that had the title of "Baylieville 2". It was a strange book. It had a Dark brown cover that was rather torn up with a red line running down the spine. She couldn't stop thinking about the odd book and why she was "forbidden" to talk to Ethan.
Jane attempted to sneak down the hallway but every step she took it make a loud creaking noise. She finally approached her destination... Nathan's room. Jane carefully knocked on the door three times. After about a 5 second pause Nathan swung open the door.
"What do you want?" Nathan said with glare.
"Um.. I was just.." Jane voice trailed off.
Jane could see Parker sound asleep on his bed.
"Just what?" Nathan said clearly annoyed.
"Um. I-is it um." Jane couldn't think of what to say.
"Jane I'm tired and should be sleeping. Goodnight." He said shutting hist door in her face.
Jane opened her creaky bedroom door and sat on her bed. Jane let out a sigh as she looked out her long window behind her bed. Jane was a little startled to see Ethan sitting on his bed staring at Jane. Jane, a little frazzled, got up and walked to the other side of the room. She hoped Ethan couldn't see her from there. After about a minute or two of standing Jane cautiously walked back to her bed. She looked out the window.. but no Ethan. She didn't see him anywhere.
"That was odd..." Jane said quietly to herself.
Right after that statement Jane climbed under her soft blankets and fell asleep.
The next morning Jane woke up to footsteps going up the stairs and loud voices.
"One more?" A man's voice said very loud.
"Yes thank you. One more please!" Aunt Wendy said back.
Jane crawled out of her bed, tied her hair up into a messy bun and put her glasses on. She opened her door to see Parker standing there with his hand in a fist appearing as though he was about to knock.
"Oh! Good morning Jane." Parker said with a smile. "There's some guys working on the attic. They should be gone soon."
"Oh okay. I was wondering what that noise was.." She said peering down the hallway.
A skinny man walked down with long pieces of wood on his shoulder.
"Look out!" He said as Parker jumped back against the wall.
"Sorry!" Parker shouted as the man ran past him.
Parker was being surprisingly nice today.. Nathan must be gone.
"So is Nathan here?" Jane asked Parker.
"No he's not. When I got home this morning he was gone. I assume he's with Piper". Parker said cheerfully. "You hungry?"
"Yeah I'm pretty hungry actually." Jane said.
"Mom made us breakfast down stairs better hurry down before it gets cold!" Parker shouted as he started running down the stairs.
Jane shook her head and went down the stairs laughing.
"So who's piper?" Jane asked as she got down stairs.
"Oh right you haven't met her yet. Piper is Nathan's girlfriend." Parker said disgusted. "She's a snob."
"Good morning Jane!!" Aunt Wendy said cheerfully.
