Luke's POV

I sat at the usual table for lunch with a yearbook in my hands, I flipped through it searching for the last name - "Jhani."

Calum and Michael came by and sat next to me. "Hey bro," they greeted and I just nodded.

"Ooo, you looking for the next hemmings smash?" Calum asked excitedely and Michael didn't hesitate to roll his eyes.

I chuckled with him, "nah - just taking a look." I answered truthfully. Finally, I found her. Dark skin with dark brown eyes and longish black hair. She wasn't exactly my type but I just needed to save my mom and if this is what I had to do so be it.

"Andrea Jhani."

Grade: 11.

"Who's this chick?" I asked Calum, placing my finger onto the picture.

"Ah, Andrea. She's the assistant librarian, kinda -"

"So she like works there?"

"Yeah, anyways she's-"

"Great, bye." I cut Calum off standing from the table and walking out of the cafeteria into the bland hallway of my highschool. Everything was the same. Grey walls, grey tiles, grey lockers. Much like the students - I swear Calum was the only guy in the whole grade who wasn't white.

I eventually reached the library. I scanned the place up and down until I found her behind a counter. She looked so much different than the 1 year old photo, for example - boobs.

This is gonna make the next month a bit more interesting.

I ran my hand through my hair and picked up a random book just to have a reason not to be kicked out.

"Hey" I spoke, when Andrea didn't speak first. Her eyes shot up from the book in her hand and up to me.

"Can I help you?"

"Yes actually, where is the encyclopedia of guns?" I asked lifting my arm "right here." I poked it and Andrea rolled her eyes and pushed the book aside. "Now where the encyclopedia of cute girls? Right there." I pointed to her.

"Who are you?" She questioned rudely.

"Luke Hemmings."

"Ah, yup. Well uh, I'm sure your a bit lost - so let me help you out the door is that way and your idiot friends are beating up a vending machine, im sure you'd like to join them." she said cocking her head to the side, before picking up a labeled bin of books and pushing past me. I turned to the door to see Calum, Ashton, and Michael kicking and pounding on a vending machine while yelling.

I followed her into an isle of books, and met her there. "I'm not like them, I'm different, smarter, good looking-er"

Andrea scoffed, shaking her head and continuing to slide in books.

"So.. let's go on a date, tomorrow night." I asked, looking down at her kneeling infront of the shelf. She stood up, reaching my level and fake thought about it for a moment.

"How about no." She said, turning around her braids whipping me a little.

"And why would that be?"

"Because Luke, you've known me your entire life. Literally, we went to the same kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and now highschool. We've been in the same classes all through elementary. We're neighbours-"

A "Wait really?" slipped from my lips, making me want to kill myself. Andrea bit her lip and just shook her head again. "And now, in the last month of high school, you just so happen to want to go on a date with me. What is it? A dare? Another hulk smash - or whatever the hell you call it?"

I stayed quiet for a moment, my head tilted to the side. "Well," I started softly

"I'll see you tonight."
