Chapter Eleven

            Ever since I found out Chris is Tai's roommate, seems like Kay's been being a little weird. Not too sure what it is, but something with her is off. I can't help but think she either knows something I don't or she has a personal issue with Chris.

            I walk into the living room and Kay is laying on the couch. I need to talk to her and see what's up. I grab a bag of chips and my tea and sit next to her on the couch.

            "Kay, can we talk for a minute?"

            "Sure, what's up?" She gives me her attention.

            "Well, since that day you found out about Chris, I feel like things have been a little weird."

            "Weird? How?"

            "I don't know. I just feel like you have an issue with him or something."

            "I don't have an issue with him."

            "Are you sure? I've been getting weird vibes from you lately so I wanna make sure everything's okay."

            "Everything is fine. I just know you like him a lot and I don't want you to get hurt."

            "Do you know something about him?"

            "I don't know him like that to know anything."

            "So why all the extras when he came by to get me?"

            "I told you, I was just shocked to see him here. Wasn't expecting him of all people to be here."

            I look at her for a moment and it seems like she's telling the truth.

            "Okay, I was just checking. I don't want things to be weird with you two when he comes around or if we all hang out."

            "Everything's cool."

            I hug her and head back into my room to call Chris. We haven't really been talking too much the last few days. I've called and texted him, but haven't gotten much of a response. When I call we talk very briefly and when I text him he's been really slow with his responses. I dial his number and the call rings several times before going to voicemail. I try once more and end up with the same result.

            "Why isn't he answering?" I ask myself.

            I try one last time and finally her answers.

            "Hello?" He sounds a little irritated.

            "Hey, what're you up to?"

            "Nothin'."

            I was thinking he'd ask me what I was doing, but he never did.

            "How was your day?" I try to change the subject.

            "It was alright."

            I wait and he says nothing after that.

            "Are you okay? You sound a little irritated."

             "Just got a lot goin' on right now."

            "Oh, okay. Well I didn't mean to bother you. Just wanted to say hi since we haven't really talked lately. I guess I'll talk to you later."
