Come Back To Me

Ch. 9
Luke's POV

The car was silent. The only thing I could here was the music on the radio and even that wasn't cheering me up. I glanced over at Katie who was facing the window. She still barely has talked to me. I wish she would though. I miss my sister, my best friend.

We used to have a such a tight bond and then last night ruined that. I wish I could make her see that I was just trying to protect. She's my little sister and I don't want her to be taken away from me. What happens to our bond then? She'll spend all her time with the guy and we won't talk anymore.

I don't know what came over me though. Just seeing Mark and her so close to kissing just made me remember something from ten years ago.

Flashback
"Luke, help!" Katie screamed. I ran over to where two little boys were throwing sticks at her.

"Leave her alone" I run towards the boys with a giant stick in my hands. I get in front of Katie and when those boys run at her, I swing the stick hitting them but not too hard. They keep trying to get to her and I keep swinging the stick. The boys finally give up and walk away. I turn towards Katie. "Are you okay, Katie?"

She sniffles, " Yes, now that you're here. Thank you, Luke, for scaring away those mean boys who were trying to hurt me."

I stare down into her teared up blue eyes. "I'll never let anyone hurt you," I say and then pull her into a hug.

I guess what I was scared of was her getting close to Mark and then him hurting her. Maybe not by directly hitting her but by crushing her heart. I sighed but maybe I went to far. I can see she really likes him and that he's starting to develop some feelings for her. I glance over at Katie, "Please stop being mad at me." She looks over at me her eyes harden.

"I can't do that."

"Why?" The next thing that came out of her mouth broke my heart.

"I hate you."

I turn my gaze away from her hoping that I wouldn't cry. I look up and see the light had turn green. I start driving and when I was in the middle of the crossroads I felt something ram into me on my side of the car. I screamed and everything started spinning. I could hear Katie screaming next to me. Everything happened so fast and the next thing I knew I was laying on the ground my body feeling like it had been broken.

Katie's POV

We were driving on our way home. The light finally turned green and Luke starts driving. When we were in the middle of the crossroads, a car had run a red light and hit our car. It started spinning and Luke and I were both screaming. I closed my eyes and grabbed on to the car door and my seat for dear life.

When everything had finally stopped spinning, I opened my eyes and looked over to where Luke was or should I say where he should be. The door on the drivers side had been ripped of and Luke was no longer in the car. Not caring about the shattered glass, I climbed out of the car in search of my brother. What I saw next brought me to tears. Luke was lying on the ground and worst of all He Wasn't Moving!

I run over to he him and shake his body. His face scrunches in pain so I stop. "Luke, please wake up! Don't die. I need you. " I take out my cell phone and dial 911. "Please come quick. My brother and I have been in a wreck and my brother got thrown out of the car onto the street. He's not moving and his eyes are closed. Hurry!" After I called I ran back over to Luke.

"Luke! Luke, speak to me. Don't leave me! Who's supposed to give me a laugh in a sad time or listen to how my day has been or when I'm sick, bring me soup and a book to read and stay home from work to make sure I have someone to talk to? I need you Luke!" Tears are streaming down my face now and I'm gasping for air because I'm crying so hard. "Come back to me, Luke. Come back."

Luke's eyes flutter open but they're not the cheery eyes that I'm used to. These eyes were different. They have a glazed, distant look in them. Luke lifts his arm and puts his hand on my face. He smiles a weak smile then says in a whisper, "Katie ... Katie ..." His hand drops to ground and his eyes close never to open again. I sob right next his lifeless body with one thought, 'Luke is dead and the last thing I said that he could hear was I hate you.'

You guys probably hate me right now especially @OWheartattack. I'm really sad I killed Luke but I did what I thought needed to be done to get comments and that was to kill Luke. Comment and vote! Sorry again.
