My birthday is in 4 days. I'm so excited!

"Meek, guess what."

"What Nic."

"My birthday is in 4 days! Isn't that exciting?"

"Yeah. Sure. You won't be going anywhere for your birthday until this cold goes away. Mostly everyone in school has it."

Meek decided to stay home with me while I was sick. I've had a cold since the 1st and hasn't eased up yet.

"See, I'm not the type to tell you I told you so, but I told you so. Who the hell goes outside and wears flip-flops. In December."

"Oh you would be surprised.", Kathy said.

"Thank you. Tell him again."

I laid down on his chest and he wrapped his arm around me.

"You big baby."

"But you love me being a big baby."

"I do."

I smiled and he laughed. I looked up at him while he watched tv and my smile got bigger.

"What you starin at shorty?"

"My handsome boyfriend."

I saw him smile hard and that made me smile.

"Smiles all morning. That's real love right there.", Na said.

"Nicki!", Denim yelled.

"Den Den. Hi baby girl."

I gave her a hug then turned away to cough.

"Are you sick?"

"Yes, but soon I'll be all better."

"If not then, doctor.", Meek said and I nodded.

"I know."

I got back in the bed and I laid on Meek's chest.

"I'm sleepy.", I said.

"Go to sleep baby."

He kissed my forehead and went back on his phone. I looked at it and I felt my eyes getting low.

I watched her eyes close and carefully moved from under her. I put the cover on her and kissed her forehead again. I went downstairs with everybody following me and sat down on the couch.

"You think she'll be okay before her birthday?", Na said.

"I hope. She's excited about her birthday, even though she's sick."

"What you getting her?", Kathy asked.

"It's a surprise for everybody. It's gone be good though. Just know, I rented out a beach."

"Just for her?"

"Yep. Just for her."

"Wow lil bro. I remember when you didn't do those special dates. She really changed you."

"Yeah she did. In a good way."

She ran down the stairs and started jumping.

"Alright girl. We get it."

She started jumping on the couch and I grabbed her foot.
