Chapter 10

My first thoughts were, What the Hell?! Where is that? Where have I heard that before? How did Eve get a note into my bag?

I sat and contemplated, should I go? Or should I stay? Where is it anyway? Where the leader becomes the leaded at the time of sunset- I got it! But what if this is just some stupid prank? I don't care if it is they went too far in using my missing BFF's name! Like Hell I'm going! And I mean that in the affirmative way as in yes, I'm gonna take this chance. Damn I'm a dork and I really need my Best Friend back so that I can stop talking to myself like an idiot.

I jumped up and grabbed my jacket. After checking on a sleeping Leo and lightly kissing him on the forehead, I bounded down the stairs and grabbed his keys. He won't mind, not like I'll crash. I wrote Mom a quick note saying some bumbling lie just in case she gets back and I'm not here, and ran out to the car. I thought about calling the police but decided against it. What if she just ran away again? But why would she in the first place? I mean what captor would allow their prey to write a note telling where they're located?

I let a tear escape as I thought the horrifying words I had never even allow myself to acknowledge as a part of this situation, My Best Friend had run away.

The school was sealed off with a gate but they don't lock it they only seal off the school so I drove into the parking lot, parked the car, got out and bounded my way to the back of the school to my and Eve’s spot.

I walked slowly over to about 20ft. of our tree and called out, "Hello?"

Someone walked out from behind the trees. At first I didn't know what to make of the giant figure but as it walked into the light I could see that it wasn't only a person, it was a- Centaur?

He has a strong white body, is dressed in a brown leather vest and has a bow and arrows strapped to his back. His thick beard is white also and his coat is flawless and iridescent. He also has Eve tied up, passed out and laying across his back. "Um, Hi," I said uncertainly not believing my eyes.

"Hello my Queen," he said in a voice I remember all too well. I can't tell you how shocked I am. His voice doesn't even fit the size of this beast. It's like a grown muscly man with a five-year-Old’s voice. I actually would've laughed if I didn't want to tear his face off for having Eve lying unmoving across his back.

        "Paul?" I asked in crudely.

"He is the one I've chosen, yes, but no I'm who everyone knows as Sagittarius. It is and honor but I'm not here for casualties, I'm here to show you, I have your friend, and if you want her to stay alive, you'll surrender," he said without emotion.

Sagittarius? As in the Zodiac sign? Can't be, that stuff's not real! I must have fallen asleep. Maybe I'm stoned and just don't know it but for whatever reason, this can't be real.

"Oh it is very real. And it is of your creation. Now, my Queen, do you surrender?" He asked face set and wise.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. Can I have my best friend back," I asked honestly.

"I'm sorry but if you won't surrender then I'll have to just kill her here and now," he said taking a lifeless seeming Eve off of his back and setting her on the ground. I didn't dare move as he took off his bow and pulled out an arrow. He backed away from Eve and poised his arrow gracefully, aiming for her heart, aiming for a kill. Maybe he'll miss? But deep inside me I know that that's not possible. I can't take that chance anyway.
