I woke up in the same hospital room they had wheeled me out of before, and I sat up, only to feel a numb tingling in my groin and lied back down groaning. "I told them. They should have tied her down. She's too giddy for all of the waiting bullshit."
"Travis watch your mouth!" My mom scolded. I heard him scoff. "I'm 21."
"Babe listen to your mother." Ethan chimed in. I looked at all three of them, and they looked at me. Well, Ethan tried to. He was a little off, being blind and all. The first words out of my mouth had them all rolling eyes and smiling knowingly. "Where's Mia?" Travis sighed. "She's buying you a gift at that gift shop on the second floor. She's going to be mad you woke up before she could get back." Ethan nodded. "But she's taking forever."
I drummed my fingers on the railing of the hospital bed. "So... how long was the surgery?" I asked. "About five hours. It was sort of simple, or the doctor said it was. You've been out of it for a couple days. It was all the drugs they gave you. To make sure you didn't feel any pain." My mom answered. I nodded and sighed. "Well, it's all over. I'm officially girl."
"I think you're going to miss your penis." Travis said, and I shook my head. "They can keep it. I don't want it."
"Don't want what?" I looked towards the opening door, as Mia walked in. smiling hugely. "My penis." I answered. I was really hoping to get alone time with Mia so we would just talk. One on one. We could finally take our relationship to the next level. Not just making out and one-sided oral.
Actual intercourse. Which was admittedly pretty scary to think about. But I guess it could wait. I loved being surrounded by my family after all. "I bought you a gift." Mia said, setting a white plastic bag in my lap. "Just a tiny gift." I smiled adoringly at her, realizing what had taken her so long. She had wrapped it.
I took the rectangular box out if the bag and before I could open it, my mom was standing up. "We should step out. Give them privacy." I nodded agreeing, and as they left, Mia sat on the bed with me, nodding towards the box. I started unwrapping it. Once it was unwrapped I took a deep breath and opened the box, taking the lid off slowly. "Babe come on," Mia muttered rolling her eyes. Once my eyes landed on the item inside the box, my throat got tight.
"I had to buy the earrings here... It's nothing much. "Mia..." I trailed off. It was a golden chain with a tiny golden butterfly on it, and the wings were blue amethists. My birth stone. Along with simple gold studs with tiny sparking diamonds in each one, shaped like hearts. "It's supposed to be symbolic. Like...you were a measly catapillar before and you became a beautiful butterfly afterwards. Cheesy, but-"
"I love you so much." I cut her off. I think that was the first time I'd ever said it like that. Seriously. It showed in her face. The way she froze and smiled after a while. "Well I love you too." Her voice was an octive too high, and we just stared at each other. Having said the words we both knew we meant. I took the necklace out of the box and handed it to her. "Help me put it on." I muttered and she did, hoping off the bed and walking towards me, unclasping the chain before gently clasping it behind my neck.
I felt the butterfly fall against my chest and smiling as she wrapped her arms around my neck. "I think we're going to be together forever."I laughed. "Why's that?" I asked her. She smiled and placed her forehead against mine. "I just have a hunch. A really good hunch."
I kissed her, pulling away only a second later, wrapping my arms around her, pulling her as close as possible. "I hope you're right."
