Two days later I get a text from Newt saying to come over and watch Monday nights episode of Castle with him. I hope he's forgotten about what happened, if he starts asking questions I won't be able to escape as easily as before.

I get to his house and we start the show. Usually, we sit right next to each other, but today we sat on opposite ends of the couch. We uncomfortably watch Castle and Beckett for half an hour before he brings up the whole girlfriend thing.

"So, is there a reason you don't want to meet my girlfriend?" He asks during one of the commercials.

"I never said that," I reply.

"I think running out kind of implied it."

"I had to go somewhere."

"Oh, yeah? Where?"

"You don't need to know everything about me."

"I already do. And one of those things is that—for whatever reason—you don't want to meet my girlfriend."

"I told you, I never said that."

"Well you never said you wanted to meet her."

"Um... I'll just finish this episode at my place."

"Jesus Christ! All I'm asking you to do is meet Cara. Is meeting your best friends girlfriend really too much to ask?"

I look away from Newt. He's right, all I have to do is talk to her. Why is this such a problem for me?

"Please, y/n. Just come over before our next date and talk to her for five minutes. She's really nice, I promise you'll like her."

"Okay."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I'll meet her."

"Thank you!"

"Can we just get back to Castle now?"

"Of course."
