"Did you like Cara?" Newt asks.
"Yeah, she's great."
"Okay, good. I was kind of worried you didn't. So, what's new with you? I feel like we haven't talked in awhile."
This is nice, it feels like how things used to be, before Newt started dating Cara and I liked him.
"Nothing much. I finished a few books and went on a date."
"What books did you read?"
"You're not gonna ask about my date?"
"Teresa told me she set you up with someone."
"His name is Brad, and he's a firefighter and he has the brightest blue eyes you've ever seen and he does a bunch of volunteer work and he's really hot."
"Yeah, but how was the date."
"It was fine, but something seemed off."
"Like he was a bad person?"
"No, he just seemed..."
"Too good to be true?"
"Exactly."
"Are you gonna go out with him again?"
"Probably."
"Why? You don't even like him."
"He's perfect. Why wouldn't I go out with him?"
"You just said he's too good to be true."
"Yeah, but that's not a problem for other people. I should just be able to go out with him."
"But if something seems off you shouldn't... you shouldn't keep seeing... that person..." Newt stops talking and looks at something behind me.
"What's wrong?" I ask, snapping him out of his daze.
He looks up, something seeming to click in his mind. "I have to do something. Like right now."
"Oh. Um, okay. I'll just go then."
"Yeah, okay. Bye." Newt says and runs to his bedroom.
