Nadira was sitting on the couch wearing her favourite hoodie to ward off the chill. Her dark brown hair shone in the moonlight that fell through the window and her violet eyes danced.
It was a Friday night and Naddy was chilling on the couch with her best friend Dylan. They had been talking for awhile now but out of nowhere Dill started to look really confused and kept blinking, seemingly looking at nothing."Naddy?" He said "Where are you?"
"What do you mean? I'm right in front of you Dill,"
"No, you're not. Stop joking around, you're going to freak me out. I didn't see you leave or anything. One moment you're there and the next your not,"
"Dill, stop being silly. You're gonna freak me out if you don't stop,"
"I can hear you but l can't see you. It's like you're invisible or something,"
Naddy reappeared seemingly out of nowhere and Dylan told her he must of just imagined it but inside it still ate at him.
Naddy disappeared again.
"Seriously, how are you doing that!?"
"Doing what? I'm not doing anything!"
"Naddy. Look at your hand,"
She did and what she did -or rather didn't- see shocked her enough to fall off the couch and out of the moonlight.
She swiftly turned visible again.
After questioning her further Dill finally realised that she really didn't know what she was doing and decided it was time for her to meet his dad.
He took her wrist and led her outside.
Ignoring her questions, he led her through the forest and to the temple. The foliage of the forest was so thick that no light shone down and no matter how hard she tried, Naddy could not loosen Dill's grip, he was too strong.
They arrived at the temple and Naddy didn't have time to look around before they were kneeling on the ground and Dill was talking to a brick.
Yes, talking to a brick.
He lifted a loose brick, tapped the brick underneath and said "Wyrdhaven, Wyrdhaven, Wyrdhaven. Quotidian no more."Whatever that meant.
~*~*~*~*~
Dill grabbed her wrist and put the brick down. Without warning their surroundings faded and all they could see was black. Gradually their surroundings faded back, but they were different.
They emerged onto a street crowded with people.
Naddy looked around in wonder. Where were they?
Dylan led her through the crowd to a normal house with bricks walls and steps leading through a plain looking garden and up to a front porch. He didn't knock on the door but rather opened it and walked through the house and into a lounge room where a middle aged man with dark brown hair streaked with grey and a 7 year old girl with dead straight, black hair were watching television. A brown and white dog ran up and licked Dill then sniffed Naddy before licking her too.
"Dad! Dee! Oh hey,Milo," Dill said scratching Milo behind the ear
Naddy looked around at the family photos on the living room walls. Was this Dill's house?
The turned around ,surprised, and Naddy saw that they must be Dill's father and little sister -there was a striking family resemblance-, Dee must be Wendy who Dill talked about every now and then and had black hair and blue eyes which she must of got from her deceased mother but Dill must of inherited his good looks from his father, they both had dark brown hair and eyes.
"Dylan? Who's this? Is it Nadira? Isn't she a quotidian? Why is she here?" Jacob Cooper fired off questions in rapid succession.
Naddy stared wide-eyed at him. What the bangles is a quotidian? Isn't that what Dill said to the brick? Something about quotidians...?
"Yes Dad, it's Naddy. But l'm not sure she is a quotidian. Dad... she turned invisible,"
Jacob straightened at this in shock. "Tell me what happened."
So Dill did, he recounted everything from the moonlight to the walk there.
When he finished, Jacob asked if Naddy was in contact with the moonlight."Yes, she was. But I don't see what that has to do with anything."
Throughout the conversation, Dee had been watching Naddy curiously but now Jacob turned to her. "Be good and to go to bed. I will be back in half an hour to say goodnight."
Dee reluctantly walked up the stairs to her room.
Jacob turned back to Dill and Naddy.
"Now then. Looks like we need an audience with the ruling royals,"~*~*~*~*~
Jacob, Dill, and Naddy walked up a huge hill to a mansion situated at its crest.
When they arrived at the doors, some guards blocked their path.
"Halt! What do you want? The royals are eating their dinner!""We're sorry for disturbing, but we have an issue to discuss with them and l think they will find it interesting enough to forgive us for interrupting their meal," answered Jacob
"Very well. Wait here,"
They let them go and a servant who had been eating in the corner ran to inform the royals. A few minutes later he ran back in.
"The King and Queen approve of your request for an audience and are waiting for you in the room to you left,"
Sure enough when they walked in, they found a big room with a carpet leading to two elegant chairs at the back of the room with the King and Queen seated in them. The Queen wore a beautiful turquoise gown that accentuated her sea green eyes and long, curly, blonde hair, whilest the King wore a suit.
Jacob, Dill and even Naddy bowed before them.
"What do you want to discuss with us?"
Rumbled King PhilipeJacob stepped forward and recounted everything that Dill had told him. The King and Queen looked increasingly interested as he spoke but otherwise their faces were unreadable.
When Jacob finished, the King and Queen looked frozen for a few moments.Naddy nervously drummed her fingers on her leg. What were they doing?
They snapped back to action.
"Are either of you apportants?" Queen Anastasia asked.
This time Dill stepped foward. "I am, your highness,"
"Thank you. Please instruct Nadira on how to create an object,"
"Very well, your highness,"
He turned to Naddy. "Close your eyes, now imagine an object clearly in you mind, make sure you can see every detail,"
