"Finally!"

I turned my attention from my locker and saw Lexi standing behind me. "What was that about?"

"That torturing history project is finally finished!" She exclaimed.

I closed my locker and laughed, "Touché." Lexi linked her arm as we walked together to the cafeteria for lunch. "Really? You're glad it's over?"

I raised an eyebrow at her, "Obviously. Why would you even ask me that question?"

"You know, because you won't be hanging out at lover boy's house no more." She teased bumping her shoulder against mine.

"Lexi you need to stop." I gave her a pointed look.

I did feel the downside at not going to his apartment anymore since it was the perfect getaway from my own house, but that doesn't mean I'm sad I won't be hanging out with Jake because somehow under all of that cool facade, he's unbelievably arrogant. And we'll still see each other at school anyways.

"Nope, I enjoy this to much." She winked as she pushed the cafeteria doors open. Instead of replying I just rolled my eyes at her. We got our food from the lunch lady and took our seats.

All is fine and normal until someone dumped their tray beside me and Lexi. "You lovely ladies need some company?" I looked up and saw Noah and Jake taking a seat next to us.

"By company, do you mean the stares of everyone here?"

She had a point. Lexi and I usually sit at our regular table, it's not like we're outcasts or anything but everyone knew we always sit here by ourselves. Now with Noah being the most popular guy at school and Jake being the new student everyone is interested in, sitting with us, it's like our table transforms into the most interesting object to look at. Not to mention inviting envious glares from a handful amount of girls.

"Not my fault they couldn't resist my charm and good looks." Jake said giving us his signature smirk.

I rolled my eyes, "Someone's been hanging with Noah too much."

"Yeah, I can feel his bloated ego rubbing off on you." Lexi said, pointing at Jake. He laughed at that while Noah made a show by wincing and putting his hand on his chest, "Ouch, I'm wounded. I thought we had a real connection." He pointed between him and Lexi. She scoffed but her face turned red as a tomato.

"Well I know a way for you to make it up to me." He wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"Do I need stick around to hear this?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"You sort of do." Jake answered. I gave him a questioning look and he just shrugged in return.

"So, today is our game against Bedford High you should come," he winked at Lexi then turned to me, "and you could see Jake playing for the first time."

My eyes widen at that, "You got into the football team in a month?" I asked Jake.

"The guy's a natural." Noah piped in. Then he turned towards Lexi and whispered something in her ear. I couldn't hear what he said but it made Lexi's face reddened even more than the last time.

I turned away from them and faced Jake, "Why didn't you tell me you joined the team?"

"I thought you weren't into that kind of stuff." He scratched the back of his neck.
