"Mum, I'm going to school now!" I shout upstairs to my mum."That's nice Clary, oh and don't forget our new neighbours are coming today."
She was probably still working on her new book.
"Kay, see you later!" I yell.
Grabbing my 10 kg school bag, I limp out the door, grunting under the weight.
I barely make it out the door before I have to rest and catch my breath.
"Hey, need some help?" Chuckles Cas.
I stare at him blankly as if to say are you serious?
"Course she doesn't!" yells Kristan, seeing my irritated expression and glaring at him.
I mouth thanks to her and she nods, smiling.
"Where's Nora?" I ask casually. She's usually the first to meet me.
"I dunno," says Cassio yawning, "she's probably sick or something."
I am a bit worried that she hasn't come today.
"Yeah, I guess." I sigh.
We walk to school quietly. I say hi to Bella, my science partner. "Hey, have you researched the..." I don't listen to the rest of what she says.
"Look, there's the new kids!" Someone yells.
Everyone rushes to see the new students. I start to move over to the window to have a better view.
"They must be RICH! Look at that car!" Summer screams.
A girl with sunnies, blonde hair and brown eyes, struts into reception and says her name in an airy voice, Maya Bekens.
"She looks prissy." Skyla whispers.
Most boys are staring at her and a few girls are whispering jealousy, but she either doesn't notice or likes the attention.
Mrs Burdick welcomes her politely, and hands Maya her schedule.
There are also two boys climbing out of the sleek car, one with dark brown hair and brown eyes, he looks open and friendly.
The other boy is slightly taller with curly black hair, I feel like I am connected to him.He turns around. He looks at me with blue eyes and smiles. I cover my gasp with a cough and quickly look away, pretending to try to find something in my bag.
"Hey, Kristan, do you know who that is?" I nudge my friend, after 'finding' my new reading book.
"Nup," She replies.
She whispers something to Cas. I catch something about ten dollars and a bet, and he laughs."Really?! No...I... I can't believe it! Ha Ha-" Cas get's cut off by Kristan.
"Shush!" Cas can't hold the next round of laughter."Great. Cas! Now everyone is looking!" Whisper-yells Kristan. Maya, the whole school and the two new boys are staring.
I hate it when everyone is looking at me.
Then a girl with the longest hair I've ever seen, shuffles into the room.
She has straight black hair with red highlights, and when she looks up, her green eyes look like she is in a dream.
I look away as I feel her eyes bore into my back with curiosity.Everyone starts to go back to their tasks. She comes over to us.
"Hi, I'm Ariel. I'm an exchange student. Can you help me find my class?" She stares at me,
"Um, sure." I look at her schedule. It's exactly the same as mine.
I rub my eyes, but it still looks the same. I struggle to focus."You have the same schedule as me." I state. I am perplexed, and my friends look at me like I'm crazy, but I saw her schedule, it was the same as mine.
"I'm Clarissa, this is Cas and Kristan." I introduce her to my group, my voice an octave higher than usual.
"Hi." They say in unison."Follow me." I say to Ariel.
We walk to English in silence, then I hear laughing.Maya is there joking with the class about cheese.
"Hello, you are?" Maya asks with an airy voice,
"Oh, hi I'm Clarissa." I mumble.
"Good morning to you all!" Yells Mr Grady over the noise of students.Everyone walks to their seats. "Can I sit next to you?" Ariel asks. I jump, I had forgotten she was there.
"Of course." I reply."Today we are going to..." Mr Grady drones on. I start to think about why Ariel has the same schedule as me, maybe I'm seeing things. I shake my head.
We are forced to listen to Mr Grady's lecture about commas... for the whole 2 hour double lesson!
Finally, when the bell rings we all run out of the classroom.
I walk over to Ariel and ask her to sit with us.
"If that's okay with you?" She asks nervously, whilst I drag her over with me to our table.
"Hey, can I call you Ari?" Kristan asks.
"Sure."They start to talk about gossip, but I tune out, looking around the room and spot the new kids.
Maya is lounging next to the brown haired boy. She is surrounded by most of the boys in both classes.
The cheerleaders look down right angry about her stealing most of the male population.
They whisper jealousy.
"I swear she's like, going to be a cheerleader. And take over the group!" Whines Amber.
"Yeah," pouts Summer. She's been the main leader of them all for three years and won't let a newbie take her status as main cheerleader.
Then the black haired one looks at me and I quickly look away.
"Hey, where you even listening! Clary!" Cas waves a hand in front of my face.
"Sorry, what?" I say numbly,
"I knew it! You owe me ten bucks! She was staring at him!" Yells Kristan to Cas.
Kristan gives him a vicious smile and holds out her hand, he grumbles and hands over a ten dollar note.I look at him in confusion, he shakes his head sadly. We start to head over to our next class.
"Don't worry, I can find my next class. Thanks for letting me eat with you." Ari waves before whizzing out to her next class, history.
"I swear she had the same schedule as me," I stutter.
"I think she's going crazy." Cas whispers to Kristan,
"We have the same class as her with the freaky art teacher, Mrs Premoli."
