I wake up in my room, screaming, tears running down my face. Suddenly, the events of yesterday come rushing back to me. Yesterday? No, it was simply a dream, a nightmare. But just in case. . . I stand up carefully, watching out for the creaking floorboards. The sun was just rising, meaning that no one else would be awake. I crept through the halls, past my parents' room, only to reach a closed and locked door. Dang it, Amatheia. I tiptoe back to the broken powerpoint, carefully peeling back the cover, grabbing the spare key, and ducking back to Amatheia's doorway. I slowly put the key into the lock, breathing out a sigh of relief. I turned the doorknob, slowly pushing the door to find. . .
"Clarissa, breakfast is downstairs," I hear someone say, a soft tone to their voice, dragging me from my sleep. My eyes snap open, blinking quickly, slightly put off from my position. But, I was just in Amatheia's . . .
I jump up, refusing to believe it, rushing to Amatheia's room and wrenching open the door. There was Amatheia's bed. Still perfectly made, just the way she liked it. The books she was reading on the bedside table. Not a bookmark in one, she simply remembered the page number. Her computer charging on her study table. Assessment notifications and worksheets and textbooks neatly stacked to one side. Everything perfectly ordered. . . As if. . . But no, she has to still be alive, there's no way she could be dead, not the bright, happy, spirited - I fall to the floor limply, a scorching pain roaring through me.
My eyes open slowly to the sight of complete darkness. But - no, not complete darkness. There was a figure stepping towards me. As the figure grew closer, the details become clearer. First a warm smile, then an outstretched hand, light spilling everywhere, attacking the darkness until it was pure burning bright light. The face comes into focus when I suddenly feel a jolt of pain course through me, starting from the back of my head, making my every muscle, every bone ache and burn and twist in pain, complete and utter pain. As fast as the pain came, it vanished. My eyes burst open, wincing, tears streaming at the sudden light and remnants of the recent pain still slightly there. I wait for my eyes to fully adjust and focus. When they do, I wish they hadn't. Instead of the familiar sight of Amatheia's room, I am slightly off put to find someone's face almost pushed up against mine. Before thinking, I screech at the top of my lungs, screwing my eyes shut, almost allowing the pain to take over again but still holding on. I slowly open my eyes again, glaring at the now empty space. I whip my head around to see the face belongs to a doctor. I'm in a hospital. Great. Just what I need. I feel my glare slip slightly as the pain seems to grow, eating away at my body. Today is just not a good day.

3 hours later and I've finally been released from the hospital. Not that i'm feeling any better. The throbbing pain feels like its waiting for my facade to drop. But I swear, I will never let that happen, not at the moment anyway. I look to my parents, but they're looking the other way. My mother takes a deep breath and looks over at me with a warm smile.
"How are you feeling?" She asks me.
"I'm ok," I return her warm smile. "Just tired."
"Let's go home then." She replies, holding up the smile. I walk over to the car, trying not to fall asleep. I hear the car unlock and pull open the door with a yawn, before stepping in. I put my seatbelt on and prepare for a long sleep when I hear my phone ring. Unknown number. Huh. In my delirious state, I decide that I should answer. Wow, great decision, totally not the way most horror movies begin.
"Hello?" I hear my tired voice say. Nothing.
"Um. . . Hi?" I repeat. Still nothing.
"No 'seven days' or something?" I say in a scratchy voice.
"Bye," I huff, officially fed up. I move the phone away from ear to hang up when I hear a scratchy voice.
"Hello," It seemed to say. "How's that pain going?"
