By the time the weekend had come around, Josh and Martin had planned to go to town for a few drinks.
'Did you manage to get any money off your Mum?' asked Martin down the phone to Josh while they were arranging the night out.
'Don't worry, Boss, I got some cash off her and also off my dad. He gave me fifty quid,' replied Josh casually.
'Nice one, a few drinks it is then!' said Martin 'you bringing your misses?'
'Not tonight, mate, she is working late tonight, I did ask her if she wants to come out after work but she turned it down,'
'The girls always turn you down!' laughed Martin down the phone.
'Just women, innit,' moaned Josh 'but saying that she is up for coming to that rave in a couple of weeks,'
'Really? You did say she enjoyed the last one you brought her to,' said Martin.
'Yeah, she even said she will get the weekend off work then as well,' added Josh.
Jennifer was working again that weekend and although she wouldn't have minded going out, she knew that she would be tired and would have rather saved her money. She was looking forward to going to the Spring Weekender with Josh however and had hoped that it would maybe make them feel closer. While she had tried ecstasy with Josh before, he always seemed to be more open with her and she felt that it had made her feel more comfortable about herself so she had booked the weekend off work in advance.
Her best friend was a girl called Abbey who she had known for years and although Abbey didn't approve of drugs herself, Jennifer had admitted to her that she had tried ecstasy.
Abbey also wasn't that sure about Jennifer seeing Josh as she knew that Jennifer had been hurt by guys before and on the occasion that she had met Josh, she felt that there was something about him that she didn't trust. She didn't want to fall out with her best friend over a guy though, so normally she kept out of the way in Jennifer's relationship and Abbey was usually one of the people that Jennifer would confide in whenever she had problems with something.
As Josh arrived at Martin's that evening he sat down in the living room while Martin got ready upstairs. Josh looked through his phone looking for people that they could invite out with them and then he paused as he got to Nikki's name in his phone book.
'Better not text her,' he thought 'I have a new girlfriend now anyway,'
Josh sometimes still regretted how badly things had ended with Nikki, their relationship wasn't always that bad, it was just the arguments that they had while they were together were starting to get to him so he had felt that the relationship had ran its course while Jennifer was almost the complete opposite as him and Jennifer had never once had one argument but that was something that he started to take advantage of. He knew that he could go out with his friends without having to worry about Jennifer arguing with him but he did still feel like she was checking up on him.
Nikki had spent the evening getting ready round Suzanne's while Bradley had just planned to have a quiet evening in.
Suzanne was another of Nikki's friends whom she had known since they were at school together. Suzanne had blond hair and was slimly built and always seemed to buy a different set of clothes each week.
'So where you want to go tonight?' asked Suzanne as Nikki was doing her make up in Suzanne's mirror.
'Are we still alright to go to Fox's?' replied Nikki referring to a bar in town.
'I'm cool with that,' agreed Suzanne 'the drinks are not too bad in there either,'
'Can you check my phone for me?' asked Nikki 'I need to know if Bradley texted me,'
