"I clutched your arms like stairway railings. And you clutched my brain, and eased my ailing."

The sky above is a beautiful gradient of navy and cornflower blue. A slight breeze sweeps through the chilly city of New York, a symphony of wind chimes twinkling in the air, barely heard over the loud sounds of the city.
On the streets of Queens, a young girl with a recently stolen bouquet of wildflowers walks swiftly through the people crowding the sidewalk, almost knocking a few people into oncoming traffic.
A black beanie hides the girls most recognizable feature, her multicolored hair that cascades down the sides of her face in loose waves. The last thing she needs is someone spotting the infamous Harley Quinn and starting a riot. She usually spent hours designing and creating her costumes and disguises, but she was on borrowed time, so her casual cover up would have to do.
Steve Rogers had informed the Avengers that the they had an urgent mission in Nigeria, and were to leave via quinjet at 2:00 A.M. Harley had gotten her mission bag thrown together as quick as she could, and ran all the way to Queens, her heart racing faster with every minute drawing closer to the deadline.
Harley's impatience peaks as she sees her destination in front of her, a tall grey apartment complex towering over her small body. Anyone else looking at the building wouldn't give it a second glance. They wouldn't know that inside that very building lived two of the most important people in Harley's universe, May and Peter Parker.
Making her way through the dingy lobby of the apartment, Harley stomps up the seemingly endless flights of stair up to the apartment occupied by the Parker family. Harley's preferred method of entry to any building was through a window or an air vent, but when May found this out, Harley was on the receiving end of a thirty minute lecture on safety and the dangers of risky behavior.
After practically flying up multiple staircases and banging her knees into multiple stairwells, Harley arrives at her destination and knocks on the door as quietly as she can. She stopped announcing her presence with loud bangs against the door when May informed her that the neighbors had started complaining.
The door flew open and Harley was face to face with a smiling May Parker, the older woman's hair frizzing out of its ponytail, the brunette strands slicked with sweat.
"Hey gorgeous!" May smiles breathlessly. "You're just in time! Foods almost done!"
Harley let May take her shoulders and guide her inside. The smell of strawberries and sugar filled the cozy apartment.
"Smells good!" Harley nods approvingly. "Oh! And uh, these are for you." Harley presented the bouquet of flowers, the colorful plants hiding her shy smile.
May sniffs the bouquet of yellow roses, an even bigger smile on her face. "They're beautiful sweetheart, thank you!" She gushes, putting the flowers into a y'all empty cup on the counter and then giving Harley a warm hug.
When May first met her, Harley would flinch and step back from anyone that got too close to her. But after knowing each other for close to six years, the young girl had gotten used to and happily embraced May's affectionate personality.
The two pulled apart from their hug at the sound of a creaking door echoing through the apartment. Harley's heart skipped a beat as the boy who'd been on her mind all day emerged from his room.
