|| SALLY ||

-flashback to 1 week prior of the Seven goes to Olympus-

I furiously wrote a few words on the binder paper. I sighed. I erased those few words that I just wrote. Something just wasn't right. I couldn't think of anything to write for the new addition of the book series I own. Which is pretty odd, because I usually have loads of ideas. Something was just...off today. And as if someone heard me; right on cue:

"Sally! Someone wants to see you!"

I put down my pen and headed to the living room. There sitting on a chair was Poseidon? I didn't see him too often, and three old ladies who were knitting some type of things were also here. My eyes widened. The Fates.

I bowed down to the fates, "Ladies of Fate."

"Rise Sally Jackson."

Poseidon shifted uneasily.

"There is going to be a new evil rising, a very dark and ancient evil, even older than the Fates themselves. And there is absolutely no way that any divine being on Olympus can defeat this evil. Which only gives us one option, to create a hero." He explained.

I paled when Poseidon mentioned that there's a new evil about to rise. Percy can never really do get a break, can he?

"The child will contain both powers of Poseidon and the Fates." Clotho said.

"But there is also needs to have the mortal blood. Because even the greatest gods will lack the determination and spirit that you mortals have. That is why demigods are so precious. A combination of both." Lachesis explained.

"And this is what we are offering: would you Sally Jackson and Paul Blowfis become the mortal guardians of the hero we are to create?" Atropos asked.

I looked at Paul, and he nodded.

"Yes, what is to be done?" I asked.

"You must make the illusion that this child is yours."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Pardon? How do I do it?"

"It is simple, do not worry. That is on our behalf. We will use very strong Mist to make it look like you're pregnant. And when the time comes the West Wind will deliver it to you."

"So all I need to do is to make it look like I'm pregnant to Perseus, and then when it is the due date, the child will come to us."

They nodded. "Yes. Now, dear, stand still as we try to make the illusion."

I did as told and after a quick few seconds, the illusion was done. I had a teensy bump on my stomach. I could even feel it with my hands. But I knew that it was only a trick of very ancient and strong magic.

"Good luck." the Fates said and they disappeared in blinding light. The only deity left was Poseidon.

He looked at me worriedly. "Sally, know that this child that will be delivered to you will have mortal blood, my blood, and some of the Fates' power. It is more godly that it is mortal."

He paused.

"It may endanger the hero itself and the sake of Olympus." he said.

"How?" I inquired.

"We...we are interfering in a prophecy. It is very dangerous, as you know from the last most recent ones...but this is direct interference. We gods are making a hero have the prophecy unravel around. Just---just be careful and take care."

He then flashed away with a hint of sea spray still lingering in the air.

Paul came near me. "Do gods pop in like this often?"

I chuckled. "No, they don't. In fact, they hardly come at all."

-end of flashback-

I looked at Percy.

"You're going to be a big brother." I worded carefully.

It took him a little while to process it but soon his face was written in joy.

"Yes! Yes! I'm going to be a big brother! Yes!"

Both Paul and I chuckled.

"Congratulations." he finally said after he calmed down.

I sighed in content. So far so good.

"Boy or girl?" he asked.

I thought it for a moment. "Girl," I confirmed.

"I'm going to get a sister." he said dreamily.

But then he snapped out of his trance and said. "I have a lot of questions, now." He laughed nervously. "I don't even know where to start."

"Take all the time you need," Paul said. "We got all day."

"What's her name going to be?"

"Well, we have put a lot of thought before reaching this decision," I explained.

"And her name is Coraline Adrianne Jackson," Paul said.

"That's an awesome name. But Adrianne?"

"That's my mother's name," Paul said.

"Oh." Percy smiled.

"Just wondering, but why Jackson?" he asked.

I bit my lip. I looked at Paul. His eyes said: Go on continue. I'm fine with it, and he deserves to know.

I took a deep breath. "That's because she's a demigod."

His eyes widened. "Demigod?" he muttered. "Demigod...Poseidon."

"Her father is Poseidon, isn't it?" he asked.

"Yes..." I said.

"How could you do that to Paul?" he whispered. I couldn't believe that my own baby was distraught, because of me. I bowed down my head. I couldn't bear myself to look at him even though I knew what he accused was not true.

Paul spoke up, "I was at school when Poseidon decided to visit your mother, to tell her about the war against Gaea. And it happened. It was an accident. I'm not mad at all. And I've always wanted a child to care for. At least our..." He put his arm around my shoulder and I could feel his smile upon me.

He continued. "At least our little Coral here won't have to go through the struggle with only one parent. She'll have a happy family, the happiest childhood a demigod could ever get."

I looked up to my son. He now had a fiery determination. "And I promise that I'll always be there for her, always there to protect her."
