"Alright class, simmer down," my chem teacher calmed the class. "As you all know the science fair is coming up," he began as a loud groan erupted from the classroom. "And the project will be done in pairs."

As soon as he said that my best friend and I made eye contact. "But, I will be picking the partners for you," he said, killing everyone's vibe. We weren't excited for the science fair to begin with, but now it was worse.

"I've already prepared the list so sit tight and listen for your name. Once I'm done, you and your partner can sit together and discuss what you plan to do."

I sat on my phone as my teacher called out the pairs, waiting for my name to be called. "Taylor Lamkin and John Swift," he called out. I looked around the room until I locked eyes with John, he nodded his head and I returned with a toothless grin. I've never really had a full on conversation with John, but he's pretty cool I guess.

Once our teacher had read off all the pairs everyone went and sat with their partners. (Y/bf/n) got paired up with a random girl and on her way over to her partner she whispered in my ear, "You better tap that," referring to John.

"Oh god," I laughed, turning red. She winked before walking away.

A few seconds later, John walked over and sat down in the empty seat next to me. "Hey, partner."

"Hi, partner," I laughed, giving him a weird look. "Got any ideas on what we should do?"

He smirked, "Oh, Taylor, I've got plenty of ideas."

I rolled my eyes, "Good lets hear them, and keep them chem related. The science fair is in two weeks and we need all the time we can get."

"You're no fun," he whined. "But, seriously I'm at a blank on what we should do."

"How about we do how to separate salt from water?" I suggested.

He shrugged, "Works for me."

The rest of the class period I tried to get as much work as possible done, which was impossible due to John's constant distractions and jokes. The bell rang and everyone gathered their belongings and began to pile out of the classroom.

"So, my house or yours?" John asked as we put our stuff away.

"Mine, four thirty."

At exactly four forty there was a knock at my door. I looked through the peep hole and saw that it was John and opened the door so he could enter.

"Cute," he comment as I led him to the dining room where I had everything set up.

I noticed he was no longer behind me and saw that he stopped to look at pictures on the wall. I walked over and stood behind him. "You know you don't look much different," he chuckled. "Cute then, cute now." Did he just say I'm cute?

"Yeah, come on," I grabbed his hand and brought him into the dining room. I sat in front of my laptop as John sat in the seat next to me.

As I was typing I felt John scoot closer and his eyes were on me the whole time, watching my every move, causing me to squirm a little.

I turned to look at him and was met with his soft brown eyes, he had a small smile playing on his lips. I was confused about his sudden change in behavior, but I liked this side of John.

After a few moments of us staring at each other he cupped my left cheek with his right hand while his left hand rested on my thigh, he leaned in. Our lips met and my eyes fluttered shut, getting used to the feeling of his lips on mine. Soon I kissed back and our lips moved in a perfect sync. His tongue grazed over my bottom lip and I pulled away before things could get too intense. He rested his forehead on mine and pecked my lips.

I broke the silence, "What was that for?" After I said it, I realized it came out really harsh.

"I don't know, I guess I've liked you for a while now. Sorry about it," he said, running a hand through his hair.

"You don't have to apologize," I said, resting my hand on his thigh. "I liked it," I admitted quietly.

He looked at me in shock then smiled. "Really?"

I laughed and nodded my head.

"So, uh, you wanna maybe go on a date with me sometime?" he asked.

"I'd like that," I said with a smile. He smiled at me and then kissed me again

that kiss was sO awkward !!!!
