Imagine you were dating Luke for almost a year. You guys had argued a little bit and with him on tour and being gone all the time, it didn't really help the situation. You missed him a lot but you thought maybe taking a break would be the best thing for both of you... You were always afraid of him meeting someone new on tour and forgetting about you so you decided it was the best thing to just tell Luke things weren't working out, even though you really didn't want to.
Telling Luke was the hardest thing you ever had to do. You remember hearing his cry on the phone and it broke your heart but you had to do it. You couldn't take being so far away from him anymore. The long distance relationship just wasn't working for you.
*6 months later*
You and Luke had continued to be friends and he was finally home and on break from tour. Luke asked you if you wanted to hang out because he hadn't seen you in so long, but that was the thing...you hadn't seen Luke in forever and ever since you broke things off, your friendship just hasn't been the same.
....And a lot has changed in 6 months....
You don't know how you're going to be able to tell Luke that you have a new boyfriend..
It was a saturday afternoon and you were spending the day at your house watching movies with your boyfriend when you randomly get a text from Luke.
Luke: Hey (y/n) if your home I'm gunna drop by. I'm like 5 minutes away.
You jump up off the couch and your boyfriend looks at you confused.
"What's wrong babe?"
"Luke is on his way here!"
"Shit."
Before you know it, you hear the doorbell ring. You and your boyfriend look at each other unsure of what to do.
"Let's just get the over with...he was going to find out eventually.." You say, realizing that its time to tell Luke.
You open the door and your boyfriend comes to your side. As soon as Luke sees him, his smile disappears.
"Uhm...Luke, this is Tyler....my boyfriend."
"Hi." Luke says. You hear the tension in his voice. He doesn't look very pleased.
You instantly feel awkward but you let Luke in and walk into the living room where the movie you were watching is still playing. Tyler is holding hands with you and you both sit on the couch, inviting Luke to join.
He hesitates but finally sits down on the couch across from you two. You notice Luke watching you with Tyler so you let go of Tyler's hand.
The movie finishes and Tyler offers to get you all something to drink, to try to ease the awkwardness. He leaves the room and suddenly Luke gets up, coming towards you.
"(Y/N), can i talk to you?" Luke asks quietly. You can tell that he is upset.
"Yeah of course." You say, getting up from the couch.
You follow Luke into your room. You see his eyes scan your room quickly and you both notice that the picture of you two still tacked up on your corkboard. You both look so happy in that picture.
Luke turns back to you and you stand there waiting for him to say something. He looks nervous, his hand shaking as he balls them into fists.
"(Y/N), I'm not surprised you have a new boyfriend because you're the most amazing girl I've ever met, but it hurts that you didn't tell me. But what hurts even more is seeing someone else hold your hand, seeing someone else close to you, seeing someone else care about you almost as much as I do and having you call someone else your boyfriend. I have to admit that I am jealous. I don't want anyone else to be able to call you theirs. We argued every now and then but none of that matters. Being away from you on tour was hard but what is even harder is not being able to call you my girlfriend. I love you so much and I just let you slip away... I can't picture the rest of my life without you, and I don't want to. I made the biggest mistake of my life and I will fight to have you back. I love you (Y/N)."
You look into Luke's eyes and you know that he is telling you the truth. He's giving you the same look that he would give you every time he told you he loved you. The passion is still there. You are completely speechless as you wipe some tears from your eyes. Luke looks you in the eyes and then his gaze drifts down to your lips. You close the gap between you and him as you throw your arms around his shoulders, pressing your lips to his.
You got your lukey back.
