- Lillian POV -

“Lillian wake up! Its Christmas, Santa came!!” my 10 year old cousin Olivia squealed jumping on my bed.

“Ok ok, I’m up.” I groaned and sat up slowly.

Olivia started giggling. “What?” I asked and she told me my hair looked funny. “You know, I have been a good girl. I think those gifts from Santa are for me!” I said tickling her.

“NOOOO!” she laughed and jumped off my bed then running downstairs.

We always have my aunt and her three kids come over for Christmas Eve and Day. Its nice to have the attention off of me for a while. Kathy says that way I can screw up without people having to care.

Crawling out of bed I slipped on my longer pajama pants and some socks then went downstairs to see who else is up.

Everyone was up and all stared at me as I walked up to the couch and tree which they were all gathered around.

“Nice of you to join us…” my dad mumbled and I just rolled my eyes.

I turn 18 in 3 weeks and I’m counting down the days. I can’t wait to see the look on my dads face when he sees me leave his house and drive off with Emma.

It feels like so much longer in school but I only have 4 months left. It definitely doesn’t feel like I’ve been at that school for 2 months. so much has happened but I feels like the time just flew by.

“Earth to Lillian!!” Jack my 14 year old cousin called waving a box in front of my face.

“Oh umm thanks.” I mumbled before taking the box and my dad told me to open it.

Pulling the paper from the box it appeared to be full of clothes but I pulled out paper work. Ok this is worse than getting socks or underwear.

I looked at my dad with a puzzled expression and he said, “Read it a little.”

You are the owner of a new, one bedroom apartment. Move in as soon as you are ready, the payments are covered for the first four months by Ryan Morris. Congratulations!

“Is this a joke?” I asked skeptically looking at my dad and step-mom.

“Yes sweetheart. I want you to learn responsibility and I think you need your own space. Besides you finish high school in 4 months and I think you’ve put up with a lot with the move and everything so this is my gift to you.” My dad said.

A smile crept onto my face and tears brimmed in my eyes. Its only been 4 years since my mom left and I can't help but feel like my dad is trying to get rid of all things that remind him of his old life.

“Thank you daddy, so much!” I said and was truly sincere.
