Walking through the undergrowth of the isolated park, I consciously looked over my shoulder in case of anyone watching my move. What I was doing was completely confidential so being caught by any individual was not an option.
The beautiful scene that unravelled itself to me was breathtaking. The gentle sound of the birds chirping sent a feeling of hope and happiness through my veins, the slight breeze and rustle of the leaves helped maintain such a natural aura as well as the sunshine that peaked through the towering branches hitting of the stoned tarmac that made up the pathway. I was brought out of my gaze as what happened prior to today in the cafeteria hit me like a ton of bricks. It aggravated me how Maxine was able to lure anyone and everyone purely out of her seductive ways. This obviously said a-lot about the 21st century how personality and character was no longer relevant and looks and your physical self was the only thing that was considered. Obviously I lost in both ways. Who would want to enter my world that consisted of nothing but pain and immorality.
Call me crazy but I actually thought the new kid was different in comparison to all the other guys out there. I don't know what it was or why it was but something told me he saw the world in a different light rather then sleeping with girls and partying. Obviously I was proved wrong but was totally unfazed by it. Shrugging off the irrelevant thoughts of school, I now realized I had finished walking on the long pathway, reaching the end of the park. I met my destination as I could see the small office that was slightly concealed due to the overgrowth of the mid-high trees that towered in front of it. Instantly picking up my pace, I opened the door meeting Officer Boltons anticipating eyes.
I was instantly bombarded with the thick and tension filled air. It was as if all the anxiety he was feeling gathered together and brimmed the atmosphere that surrounded us. An oak desk lay in the centre of the compact room containing a range of papers that were scattered around creating a visual of mess. A small desk lamp was the only source of light that illuminated the dark room considering the small window blinds were drawn down. A chocolate leather computer chair lay behind the desk whilst a miniature sofa that lost its plushness was pushed back against the opposite white wall.
The scene itself was choking, suffocating and I could no longer handle the uncomfortable silence that lingered between us.
''What do you want me to do?'' my firm tone in voice came out rather confident but that was besides what I was feeling.
''I want you to listen, and I want you to listen carefully'' he responded harshly voicing out his strict words.
I nodded gesturing for him to go on.
''The guy we're after, hes the best of the best. Trained and fully skilled. He was told to keep his guard down and maintain his clean record therefore, any suspicions he may feel or anything he considers as a threat- he will not be afraid to get rid of .'' his voice was serious and I knew whoever he was talking about was a threat to all man kind.
''Where do I find him?'' I asked the most obvious question, wanting nothing more then to serve my father justice as soon as I could.
Expecting an almost immediate response, a moment of agonizing silence fell amongst us once again. I watched Boltons eyes wondering why he was so hesitant to respond to my question. Shifting confusingly in my standing position, I attempted to command him to proceed and answer my question already.
Clearing his throat and adjusting his crisp white tie, Bolton turned around refusing to meet my gaze.
''Hes currently situated in this town, after being transferred recently from Russia''
I froze.
What? I was unsure if I'd heard correct.
He was so near yet so far. Which meant I could finalize what I devoted my entire life to.
