Entry #5
Over the past few days I've meticulously crafted my plan, down to every singular detail ensuring that every goes according to plan. This morning during my group therapy slot I left the sun room to investigate room 214 to see if I could get out of the window using the faulty latch. However when I got there I discovered that it was a locked door and you needed an access card to enter. Frustrated I went to return to my room when I heard one of the security guards say he needed to go to his car and asked Paul to watch the security room. The security room is where all the cameras are monitored and the control panel for all the lock ward rooms are. I quickly changed my course and headed towards the room. Once sure that the security guard was gone, I ran up to Paul sobbing, telling him about a lady in Section C had attacked me. He ran off in that direction to investigate and I slipped into the room. Being completely honest, the control panel was confusing. There were about a hundred different switches all sectioned off in separate categories. Knowing I had limited time I searched for the code book the Randy, the new security guard, complained about having to use. Upon prying open the front desk drawer with a letter opener that was in the pencil holder, I found the code book and swiftly located the activation switch for room 214. I flicked the switch off and stuck a piece of tape to it that said 'broken, needs maintenance, do not switch on' to it before pocketing the letter opener and leaving the room just before Paul returned.
Now I'm waiting in my room for the party to start so I can change into my costume and leave. My hands shake with each word I attempt to write, each pencil stroke becoming increasingly less legible. I've never done anything this daring before, knowing that if I got caught the consequences would be dire. I guess I'm just going to have to be that more careful. My hand is shaking too much to write, I need to calm my nerves.

I close my book and pull up the corner of my small mattress and slip my book underneath, hoping no one would find it there. I pressed my hand to my chest feeling my racing heart, palpating as if it was about to burst from my ribs and jump into the palm of my hand. I felt crazy. Only crazy people tried to break out of mental institutions. My thoughts whizzed around in my head as I paced the room. I walked over to my barred window and gazed up at the moon above. The bright white moon hung low in the autumn night sky, casting its dazzling light across the streets of beautiful boston. Cars passed along the street blowing leaves onto the sidewalk. The grass on the lawn look soft as a pillow glistening with dew from the light showers earlier this morning.
I sign and turn to walk over to my dresser drawer where I keep my spare clothes and dig through them until finding the nurses outfit. I'm about to change into it when I hear a knock at the door. I quickly stuff the uniform back into my drawer and swiftly sit on my bed.
"It's open" I call out smoothing my pants down with my hands, a hint of frustration evident in my voice. The door opens and in walks Luke in all his glory. As he opened the door I could hear a faint sound of party music playing from the lounge indicating that the party had started. I smiled at Luke's attempt at a makeshift cops uniform. He had on a blue dress shirt with a tag stuck to it that said NYPD which was tucked into black dress pants complete with a hat. He also had a badge and handcuffs attached to his belt that look as if he bought them at a children's toy store.
"Are you coming down to the party?" he asked resting his hand on the bottom of my bed.
"I don't know I have a bit of head ache, we went through a lot in therapy today..." I say trailing off knowing full well I did not go to therapy today.
