Melinda 17

I did not wanna do this but I promised myself and Ryan that I wasn't gone back down from winning the crown. This was the last day of voting till prom tomorrow. I been spending some time with Ryan where we dance and get to know the students at this school. He showed me another side to him I didn't know about.

"Remember have fun. When you having fun it rubs off on people and they start having fun. You want to show that you not just the nerdy girl that hides under her books and makes herself invisible. You want this, so go get it"

I nodded my head as Ryan gave me a poptalk. I was the last one to go on stage. I can hear the crowd cheering really loud for Joanna. I wanted to ask him why he's been distant, but I didn't. He promised he was gone be here and he was.

"I think they loved her" I told Ryan. I was getting more nervous by the seconds.

"She's on stage with spandex shorts and a sport bra, guys like that"

He stopped talking when he saw my face.

"That's not helping" I say threw my teeth. I got up and starting walking around.

"Melinda come on, I was just playing. You look mighty fine too. Sweat pants and all" he said pulling me close to him. I looked up at him. He kissed my lips and pulled away. I looked up at him and he looked away. He run his hands threw his hair. I smiled when the curls came back covering half of his face again.

"Go win votes" he said walking away. As soon he left Joanna came off stage. Of course Keshia was with her.

"oh my gosh, look who we have here. It's the cow" Joanna singed. Her and Keshia laughed and stopped in front of me.

"Show up to prom or any where near the stage and I will make you suffer" she whispered to me. She showed me a razor. They laughed really loud and left.

My legs were shaking. They announced my name but I couldn't walk. I took big breath and started walking. I stopped when I got to the stage. The lights were so bright I couldn't see anybody.

"Go Melinda" I heard Ryan yelled clapping. More people started joining in. I smiled and posed to start. The lights went off and the spotlight was on me. The music started playing. I started off with "One dance" by Drake and ended with Beyonce "Hold up". I did my signature move. A triple flip that ended in a split.

All the lights came back up and everybody where on there foot clapping. I bowed and smiled. I was so excited. Ryan jumped on stage with another guy and they hold up a banner in front of me. It said "Vote Melinda for Prom queen" The crowd started cheering my name.

I felt tears coming. I looked at the front row and Joanna and her friends were sitting down mad. She looked at me and smirked. She whispered something to Keshia and they all got up and left.

"Hey I think you won the votes" Ryan said putting his arms around me. I looked at him and smiled. He made this all happen. I got on my tipy toe and kissed him. I pulled away laughing.

"I love you_"

I stopped talking and stepped away from him. I don't know what just happened. He didn't say anything. I looked back at the students and smiled again. I quickly got off stage.

"Melinda come on, let's talk" Ryan said running behind me. I grabbed my belongings and walked out.

"There's nothing to talk about" I told him walking outside. I went to my car. He ran in front of me blocking my door. I stopped and looked at him.
