It was now the beginning of December. You could feel the beginning of the holiday season. Christmas is truly my favorite holiday. Finally the night before last a snow storm hit our small town. The streets were completely covered. Everyone's prayers were answered and we got a snow day. Of course my Aunt and Uncle still had to go to work so it was just me and my brother at home. Andrew didn't want to do anything of course. I swear all he ever really does is play video games. I wasn't planning on doing anything until I got a text from Jersey asking if it was okay if he came over to hang out for awhile. Jersey only lived a couple houses down from me so I said it would be fine.
The doorbell rang and I ran to get it. It was below zero outside and since Jersey most likely walked here I'm sure he was freezing. "Let me in women!" Jersey said rushing past me. He of course tracked snow into the house. "How can you walk here in this weather?" I said taking his big heavy winter coat and hanging it up on the coat rack by the door. "At first the cold wasn't so bad but then after awhile it just got terrible. Besides nothing was happening at my house so I thought I'd come visit my best friend." He said while he took off his big boots. "Jersey nothing is happening here. I was just going to watch a movie." I said walking into the living room. "It's okay. I just wanted to talk to you or more like warn you." He said jumping on to the couch. This is what I've always loved about having Jersey as my boy best friend we could always talk to each other about anything. I looked at him with a worried expression. "Warn me? About what?" I said sitting beside him. "I've talked to Jeremiah and he told me that he's going to ask you out soon." I was shocked and so very happy. I smiled up at Jersey but when I looked at Jersey he didn't seem too happy. "Jersey that's great news but why do you seem almost sad about this?" I said trying to read him. He shook his head. "I know you girls think I'm crazy but I'm telling you trusting him with your heart is a terrible idea. He's heartless. Mia I consider you my sister. I just don't want you to get hurt or disappointed." He said. I nodded in understanding. I understood where he was coming from but I still believed that I could trust him. I took Jersey's hand and looked him directly in the eyes. "Jersey thank you for looking out for me but Jeremiah he's something different. He completes me. Yes he has had his screw ups but we all do. Jersey I think I love him. He makes me feel like I'm the only girl that matters in this whole world. Just give him a chance for me. Please Jersey. He means well. I believe I can have what you and Kelsey have with him. Please just try and trust him." I said. He looked down. "Fine but if he hurts you-" he started to say. "Jersey I'm a big girl I can handle myself. I'll be fine." I said grabbing the tv remote so I could turn on Netflix. "Mia you don't always have to be so strong for people. If you ever need to just cry or to just let go I'm here for you. Okay?" He said. I nodded. "Okay." He then grabbed the remote from me and said "I'm choosing the movie." I groaned. "No!! You always choose some sort of action movie." I said trying to snatch the remote back. "Well you alway pick a sappy romantic movie." He said blocking me from getting the remote back. "Fine. Pick a stupid action movie." I said getting into my little corner on the couch. He smiled vicariously and I really wanted to smack that look off his face. Looking at Jersey made me realize ho luck I am to have him as my boy best friend. No one else would be as frustrating sarcastic caring funny or kind as him.
