It was the week before Christmas break and surely enough one of our peers was hosting a Christmas party. I had kind of stopped going to these things but Jeremiah said he wanted me to come with him so I decided I would try it.
We were on our way to the party in Jeremiah's car. "You seem nervous." He said taking my hand. Truthfully I was. Wesley and Kate both vowed to destroy my life so I was little on edge about going to a party. "I'm just a little worried about running to Kate and Wesley. I want to enjoy tonight." I said squeezing his hand. Even though we technically weren't dating it felt like it and it made me so very happy. "Don't worry about them. They won't bother us because they won't be here." I snorted. "Jeremiah you know them. They go to every party imaginable." I said. He shook his head and smiled. "Let's just say this is a private party." He said. We then pulled into the driveway of his house. I looked at him suspiciously and smiled. "Jeremiah are you kidnapping me?" I said jokingly. He smiled. "I would if I could. Now come inside. The inside of his house looked beautiful. Every corner of the house was covered in some sort of Christmas decor. It was truly beautiful. "Here I'll take your coat. Dinner is already ready in the dining room." He said taking my coat. I walked into the dining room. The table had the cutest little set up on it. He came up behind me and pulled back my chair so I could sit down. I smiled and admired everything he had done for me. "I'll be right back." He said running into the kitchen. I couldn't help but think that tonight was going to be the night he finally asked me to be his girlfriend. He then came back in the room with two plates of spaghetti and meatballs. He set one plate in front of me and then another in front of him. He then poured us both apple sider. "Jeremiah this is all so wonderful. Thank you." I said. The meal was truly great. Everything he had done had been amazing. "Anything for you. Now I have a question for you." Suddenly I had hope it was going to be him asking me out. "Okay..." I said smiling. "How did you know you had feelings for me?" He asked. I looked down. It wasn't the question I was hoping for but oh well. I thought about it. When did I know. "To be honest I kind of just knew. It took me forever to accept it. I refused to have feelings for you but whenever I looked you in eyes it was like I knew you all my life. It was like I always knew." He didn't respond. I shook my head. "I know it's stupid." I said. He then said "No it's not stupid because I can relate." I was taken back by this. "How can you relate?" I questioned. "When I first met you I started to like you. I could feel it. I just dismissed my feelings. I don't know why I did." He said. "But now I accept them." He finished. I smiled. "Come to the living room I have something to show you." I followed him into the living room. He sat down on the couch and I sat beside him. He seemed nervous. "Mia you know for about a year I have ruined your life." He said taking my hands in his. His words remind me of the day I told him he ruined my life whenever he was around me. "Jeremiah I only said that because-" he interrupted me. "No it's true. I teased you. I broke your heart. I wasn't exactly nice to you all the time." He said. I just looked at him. I wasn't very sure on what to say next. "Mia admit it I ruined last year for you." He said. I looked away. It was true. He did. "I'll admit you made me miserable but I forgave you a long time ago because Jeremiah I care about you deeply. Understand that I forgave you months ago." I said looking him directly in the so I could get my point straight across. "I don't deserve you." He said. "Don't say that. You do to. Jeremiah underneath all the cocky stupidness you truly are an amazing person I want to know more about." He looked up at me and kissed me. I kissed him back. I just wanted him that's all I wanted. He pulled away and said "I have something for you." He said grabbing a wrapped up box from behind the couch. "Jeremiah I didn't knew we were exchanging gifts." I said eyeing the box. It was small. Small enough to have some sort of jewelry inside. "Just let me talk Mia." He said grabbing my hands and looking at me square in the face. "Mia you're someone I never expected to care about. I always thought you were out of my league." I laughed. Me out of his league. "It's true!" He said laughing along with me. "But over time I've come to learn that I care for you a lot and that I don't deserve you. I'm a jerk after all but I believe I can make you happy. I think I can make you the happiest girl in the world." I started to tear up. This was something I never thought in a million years would happen. "So what I'm asking for is a chance. Take a chance on me Mia." He then opened the box revealing a small but elegant heart shaped necklace. "Mia Maria Lurks will you be my girlfriend?" I smiled the biggest smile anyone could ever have. "It's about time you asked. I would say your about a year late." I say. He smiled at me and blushed. Oh my gosh I made him blush! "So is that a yes I'm hearing?" He asks. I sigh and act bored. "I guess I'll be your girlfriend." I say. He smiles wide at me. He puts the necklace on me and then kisses me. "Jeremiah my boyfriend. That'll take some getting used to." I say snuggling close to him. "Mia Lurks the best girlfriend ever." He says. I smile and say "We haven't even been dating for five minutes and I'm already the best girlfriend ever." I say smiling at him. "Mia will you spend Christmas Eve with me and my family? I know they would love to meet you." He says. This makes me happy. He already wants me to meet his family. That's gotta be saying something since Kate never met his family. "I would love to." I say. I can tell that this makes him happy. I swear I've never been more happier in my life
