Months passed, the school year ended, and VBS came. Summer school for me had been cancelled during the first semester, so I didn't have to leave early. I could stay and hang out with Drew.
I walked through the doors of the church with a smile on my face that Monday. It was 8:30am, and I was excited. Little kids, music, and my crush in one place? I couldn't stay away. It was an adventure I wanted to keep going. I led them through the introduction and had a break to talk with Drew for 30-40 minutes. In the meantime, he told me some things he would say to his wife in the morning, some of his favorite video games, and some of the other places he'd lived in.He was interesting. I loved listening to him speak. He had no idea. I didn't even know if he had felt the same. All I knew was that I wanted to spend time getting to know everything about him. Even if he didn't like me that way, I wanted him to be the best friend that I could tell anything to. He was this amazing person. He said all the right words in classes at our church. He was smart. He loved politics. He loved God more than anything. He had a love for kids, small kids. He even had a little girl that had a cute little crush on him. He loved for it to be hot outside just like I did. It was everything. He was a real genuine sweetheart. What was not to love about him? If a person could be perfect, he would be the one that it would be.
