Today was the day. Church camp was here. It was a beautiful Monday morning, and I was ready. Troubles were brewing, however. The van would not start, and the luggage wouldn't fit into the vehicle we had planned on. We ended up leaving an hour late. Not only that, but here came Drew, with his beautiful blue eyes and his olive skin.

"Hey, what happened on Wednesday. I didn't see you on Sunday. You didn't even email me back last night."
"Nothing. I was just tired." I said with the best smile I could come up with.
"Oh. Are you ready for camp?"
"Yah. I'm open minded. I haven't really been into it since my dad's passing.."
"I understand. I haven't ever been to this camp, so I'm kind of excited about it."
"It's a blast and is really powerful most of the time."
"Yah."

"Alright guys! We have everything now solved! Some of the girls will be riding with Mr. Jamie, and some with Mrs. Williams. The guys will be between Jake and me. Who's ready for this?!"

At that moment, everything said was placed in the back of my mind to be dealt with later. I rode shotgun and had a blast, listening to music on my iPod. I even joked around with my friends by singing All out of Love by Air Supply to them. They all laughed because none of them knew the song.

In the last hour, we found that Jake was texting on his phone as we passed him. We honked and all scolded him as we passed. Then, we all laughed because he jumped.

In the midst of it all, I noticed a huge smile finally back on my face after all these years. It was real. Something awesome was going to happen this week.
Ring! Ring! Ring!

I looked down at my phone and saw a text from a number that looked familiar. It read:
Hey, you don't know this, but I really like you.

Confused I replied:
Who is this?

Lance. You can't tell? You gave me your number a week ago.

I never gave you my number. Please stop texting this number, or I will block you.

Why? I haven't done anything to you. You're so blind.

I didn't reply. He seemed like a good guy, but he was not the one I wanted. We never even talked. I couldn't ever feel anything for someone I didn't even know.

Five seconds later, we arrived. We parked in the back, got out, and immediately ran to the swings. They were huge. The set was right next to the pool, with its brand new water slides, and nice diving boards. The pond was in the back behind that.

Stuck in my thoughts, I decided to swing as high as I possibly could. Isaiah and Zech climbed on the swing set. Drew thought of me swinging high as a challenge and decided to race to the top. When he realized he had lost, he quickly jumped out of the swing onto the ground and landed like an avenger.
I just kept swinging while he got back on his swing.
A moment later, our youth leader came back with everything we needed to get through the week.
Excitement radiated from the group at the adventures that lie ahead at church camp. I'm not going to lie, I was feeling it as well. It was a new adventure. Every year had something new for me to learn. Though most of the time I didn't take these things and remember them, I did leave them in the back of my mind and heart to be added onto later. I knew John 3:16 by heart. However, I didn't know exactly what it meant. This week was what it was supposed to be about.

The next few hours were spent unpacking and getting our beds chosen and ready. Once we were finished, we got ready for dinner and we're off to eat.
