Today was Wednesday. One of my favorite two days of the week. I curled my hair, did my makeup and wore some of my best clothes. I had to tell him sometime about how I felt. Of course, at this point, he thought he was my best friend. He was, and I was his. I couldn't hold it in any longer. Perhaps, after church would have been a perfect time to get him alone, put my fears aside, and tell him.
I arrived a little while later with a new hope growing in my heart. Though I knew nothing would happen, I knew that he could probably be the one that wouldn't hurt me like everyone else had.
Already getting the sound set up, was the one that I couldn't help but fall for. You're so oblivious. I wish you knew.
They still had guitars to set up, the amps, the microphones to test, and some practice for all of us to do. Church would start soon, so we had to hurry and get started. I still needed to warm up my voice.
. . ."Alright guys. Does anyone want to say what they think love is to them?" Our youth pastor asked everyone in the room.
"How about you, Beth?"
"Love to most is about the feeling. Feelings disappear. Do you ever get the feeling that you're happy for one moment and the next minute someone upsets you? That's what I mean. Love is something you do. It's a verb that should be agape, meaning forever. When you meet someone, you automatically know that they're the one. God shows the real them to you."
"Wow, that was actually pretty good. I didn't know you thought of it that way." Drew said, surprised.
When I looked down at my paper, it said to name someone I loved. I didn't know what to write. When I glanced over at him, I saw out of the corner of my eye, a name I didn't recognize. ElissaWho? Who is that? I guess I can't tell him now.. Can I? It doesn't matter, I can wait.
"What's wrong? You alright?"
"I.. Will be back..." I said with tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't believe how oblivious I had been. He was amazing and attractive. Of course he would be taken. She was lucky. She had it all in the bag. She must have been way prettier. She had to have been amazing. I shouldn't be crying.. He was never mine in the first place.. I shouldn't have known.A moment later, a different girl walked out from the one that had walked in earlier. I was no longer the same. I began to play the waiting game once again. However, this was not going to be the same game. I was going to fight for what I believed in. I wasn't going to show a single feeling toward him. I was going to act like he was my best friend and try to draw him in. Somehow, I knew, the games would ever be in my favor.
