Today was Sunday, Easter Sunday. Drew's father was going to preach this morning. I arrived early, in order to help set up. They arrived just before we were finished setting up. He was wearing a black button up shirt and a blue bow tie. He looked really good.
I was wearing my best dress. It was purple and slightly fluffy. It was nothing compared to his looks. His bow tie went perfectly with his eyes. I stood in awe.
"Hey." He said, walking up.
"You look really spiffy."
"Thanks. I try."
A few moments later, we had to take our seats. A guy that I recognized from school but never talked to say by me. Yes, he was attractive, but I was too busy watching Drew."Hey, you're Beth from school, right?"
"Yeah, and you're Lance. I remember. Why do you ask?" I said, kind of surprised.
"I just think you're really beautiful. I see the way you sit in class, every day. You don't pay attention, but you're incredibly smart."
"Are you sure you don't have me confused with someone else?"
"Yup. I know you anywhere."Moments later, the music minister showed up on the stage and began singing the first hymn. Everyone began to say good morning to each other.
The message flew by. He really was good at preaching. I secretly hoped that they would stay for a long time.
After it was over, we all stayed after and talked. Lance continued his shenanigans to try to win me over, and I kept falling deeper and deeper into Drew's spell. Drew told me of his theory.
"I don't believe in dating. I won't even touch a girl or even be alone with a girl unless I know she is the one. My first kiss will be with my wife at the wedding."
"That is so cute. It sounds like what my dream guy would do."
"Really? Most people get weirded out by it. They say that's stupid because you have to get to know them."
"I wonder why. All they do is worry."
"True."We talked about these things for a while until my mom finally texted me saying she wanted me home.
