[Heyo! So before you start reading, I want you to guess in the comments. What is Ladia to Mark? I changed it since I felt terrible and I love Amy so much.]

Waking up for Paige could only be described as one thing, a blind panic. She felt no one around her but as she began to panic and fling blankets everywhere, she heard a calming voice from outside of the room.

"Yes, I have to report abuse. I had no choice but to confiscate the child before anything else happened. Is there anyway I could let her stay here? I don't want her going back to that place." It was Mark's voice, responding to silence, he must have been on the phone.

Paige took a deep breath before beginning to fix the sheets that had become askew in the process. Not listening any further since it was none of her business, however her attention found its way to a gaming station in the corner of his room, she must have looked it over in the dark. Slowly, the female tip-toed over to it in order to survey and softly prod at it in an amazed fashion. But as the door croaked from the strain of it slowly opening, (due to Mark wanting to text someone before he entered the room) Paige scurried back to the bed and sat with her ankles crossed and her hands in her lap.

"Good news!"

That happy voice made the female instinctively relax and look over, eyes surveying the thin phone in Mark's hand.

"The police say that as long as we come in later this week, and get your word for it. You can stay!" He was grinning from the successful conversation, his hands resting on his waist as he did so. His glasses on his face, with his red hair slightly covering the black trim. He was wearing a grey hoodie with red on the inside of it, blue jeans and his socks and shoes. "Come on kiddo. Ladia is making everyone breakfast."

They both walked out of Mark's room, with Mark leading and the small female behind him following- occasionally flinching from a door opening.

"Hey Mark! Good to see you're awake, oh, and you have the little cupcake with you, mornin Paige!"

The energetic voice made the eleven year old's head snap up, and her body go stiff. Maybe it was all the screaming she had heard in the past from her parents making her react that way, but something in her seemed to click and become overly fearful. Usually this would follow with a bottle being smashed against her body or a nearby wall, and then the relentless beating that would come right after the shattering sound.

"Hello? Earth ta Paige?" The little girl blinked herself back to reality as she watched a pair of crystal blue eyes meet her own chocolate ones. "I-I'm sorry... I was thinking." The little girl instinctively moved to follow Mark as he pulled out a chair for her, letting her clamber into it before pushing it to the table slightly so she could reach.

'Poor thing. She's way to mature, when I was her age I was sucking lollipops and making mud pies. What did those bastards do to her?' Ladia's mind had begun to drift into thought as she cooked the French toast everyone loved, however she guessed that when you were in an abusive situation you had no choice but to mature or get hurt. "Ladia! Careful, please?" Mark's voice made her focus again to see her hand dangerously close to the stove burner. She moved her hand away, only to hit her palm against her head softly.

Matt and Ryan joined them shortly after, Ryan wearing a black T-shirt and Jean shorts plus socks and sandals, since he had fallen victim to that trend; and Matt wearing a white T-shirt with grey sleeves and his cacky shorts, along with regular socks and shoes.

Ladia hummed as she picked up the plates of French toast setting the tempting substance in front of each of them, including one for herself. Before getting each a glass of milk and sitting down on the other side of Mark, starting up a conversation. "Sean should be here sometime today, not sure when exactly."

"Thanks again for finishing all that up guys." Mark flashed a genuine smile towards the three adults at the table as he stabbed the syrup covered toast on his plate softly.

"I hate to interrupt, but..." The child trailed off as everyone looked over to her, "Is he nice?" Paige tended to worry when meeting new people. She had to hide sheer terror when first introducing herself to Mark's three friends and for a good reason. Her fear bridged off of the fact most of her mothers friends were drunkards, only using their mother's place for somewhere to have a one night stand. Which her mother had screamed most details of 'that' during one of her drunken fiascos.

"Oh yeah! Sean's a barrel of fun, one of the sweetest guys I've met!"

"Hey-!"

"I said one of Mark!" The red haired male had objected in a hurt voice, and the maroon haired female quickly made a point to clarify.

Mark stood taking Ladia's empty plate and his own and placing them in the sink, "Guys I have to talk to Ladia. Why don't you go hang out with Paige and get to know her for a bit." The male smiled and motioned to Matt and Ryan before walking off to follow after Ladia, who was on her way to the living room.

Matt and Ryan didn't have much experience with kids, so when they were told to spend time with her, they became rather confused and silent. Ryan sparing Matt a panicked glance as if to say, she-isn't-speaking-what-do-we-do, or something along those lines. The little girl glanced at her empty plate, "May I be excused?" Matt responded with a slow nod and the girl grabbed her plate, leapt off the chair, and meandered over to the sink. Standing on her tippy toes just so she could softly place the dish in the silver basin, walking back and pushing in her chair before watching the two males intently.

Mark however, was more than comfortable and content as he sat in between Ladia's crossed legs. His back facing towards her as she massaged his shoulders, his body relaxing as they popped.

"You're gonna keep her aren't you." It wasn't a question, she knew there was no way he would put such a broken child in an orphanage. His heart was good, and his mind was made up, the woman had known him long enough to tell. "Is it that obvious?" He questioned with a low groan as her hands worked out all the strain on his muscles. Hearing her giggle softly as she continued her magic, "Well to me it is. But I know how good you are at hiding things from others." Her voice had dropped to a whisper as she spoke. Softly, the male let out a content sigh, feeling hands caress his back in a comforting way.

He leaned back into her with the back of his head resting on her shoulder, and her arms wrapped around his stomach loosely. "I can't even imagine what she went through..." The words echoed in the silent air signalling that Ladia was thinking. Finally, a sigh left her lips and she intertwined her fingers to be a loop around his stomach and chest. Since Ladia was the same size as him height wise, she could do this comfortably.

"Neither can I... Don't worry, if you want her to stay, I fully support it." The female smiled down at him and he let out a playful chuckle before jumping slightly as the doorbell rang. The woman releasing him so that he could stand and help her up before walking out of the room and down the hall to the door, looking through the peep hole and grinning before opening it.

"Jackaboy!"

Paige, who had been deep in concentration as she watched the uncomfortable males, quickly snapped out of it to run to the door as it rang. She always answered the door when it went off at her parents house, if it rang more than two times she would be berated for her "lazy ass not wanting to be anything but useless" and sent to her room. However, Mark got there first and greeted the newcomer with open arms, literally. As he was embraced in a hug all the little girl could see was a flash of green.

"Good ta see ya, Mark!"
