"Gosh, this is taking forever to finish. You think he would give us more time than a week."
"True, but it has only been one day." Rick said smiling at me.
"Do you want to take a break; it has already been three hours."
"Sure," Rick said leaning back and looking at his phone, "Shoot!"
"What's wrong?" I asked worried.
"I forgot about Trevor's party."
"What time does it start?"
"Later on, but I promised I would help set up."
"Oh, well we can always continue this later on if you want."
"That'd be great, thanks so much. I'll talk to you later." Rick said gathering his papers and leaving my house. I walked him to the door then waved him off as he drove away.
"Well, that's done with." I sighed. I took out my phone and had three missed calls from Grace. "No, no, no." I quickly redialed her number crossing my fingers she wouldn't be mad.
"Hello?" I heard her voice on the other side, she sounded like she had been crying. She must have visited her mom's grave.
"Hey, Grace, everything alright?"
"Yeah, the usual. Why didn't you pick up?" I could hear Grace's accusatory voice.
"I'm really sorry, I was finishing my project with Rick. I didn't check my phone."
"Oh, that's okay. You owe me some more Pop-Tarts for it later though," She said sniffling.
"It's a deal" I said laughing slightly.
"So! Tell me everything that happened, is he as dreamy as he looks?" She said giggling through the phone.
I was glad if I could get her mind off of everything, I know she has a hard time today, and every day. Without her mom's guidance, that must be really tough. I wouldn't know, I never met my parents. I was in an orphanage for the longest time, until they ran out of room, gave me some money and kicked me out when I graduated high school.
I can't say I miss my parents because I never had any, so there really is no sadness. I owe it all to Grace, sure the orphanage gave me money, but hardly enough to live healthily. Grace offered for me to stay in her home, but I declined. I would feel like I was intruding, I didn't want to give her my problems when her family has their own issues. So they lent me money instead.
So I told Grace everything about today, that was the least she deserved. She was like my savior, that was partially the reason her name was "The Grace" in my phone. The other reason was because she is anything but graceful, I thought it was quite clever.
"So, you guys are going to hang out again?!" Grace squealed in the phone.
"Calm down, it's not like anything really happened. We just worked, like the entire time."
"Yeah... but it doesn't mean something can't happen. What if you guys end up dating it would be perfect!"
"Shut it, I don't even like him like that, we are barely friends."
"I'm sure you are; I mean come on it has been so long since you've had a boyfriend. I mean the last boyfriend you had was Jason right?"
"Grace, please."
"Oh right, sorry. Anyways, I can't believe I have to work with Trevor."
"Hmm, maybe you guys will fall in love!" I said mocking her tone from before.
