"Tristan..." I heard someone calling me, my eyes fluttered open and I could see my best friend, Grace staring down at me. "You have to get out of here,"

"And leave you, and Jason?" I sat up straighter, what was she thinking?

"Well it's either that or we all stay here forever!?" She said in a harsh whisper.

"Someone will come looking for us...." I muttered, "Not like I could escape here, the door is locked and I am sure he is keeping an eye out."

"We don't know how long that will be. You have to try," Grace whined. I sat looking at her, didn't she understand, I was staying here so that they wouldn't get hurt.

"He promised to keep you guys safe, if I listened."

"And you took his word for it?!" She shot at me, she scoffed, almost laughing. "Listen, Tristan I know you have my life and Jason's in your hands, but I need medical attention, real medical attention." Grace held herself.

"I- What if I try, and I get caught?" I asked, worried. This was not going to be an easy decision, I risked their life by escaping.

She rolled her eyes, "What if you don't?"

I bit the inside of my cheek, I didn't like all this weight on my shoulders. "Grace, if we could just hold out until- "

"We don't know how long that will be!" Grace exclaimed. "Do it."

I stared at her unsure of what to do. My eyes were watering and my palms were sweaty from the decision I was about to make. Taking the rope in my hands I clawed at the knot to free myself from it.

After several minutes and a few broken nails I was free from the bonds. "Are you sure? Grace?" I walked towards her.

"I am. Go." Grace hugged me.

I went to open the door, but it was locked. I looked at her again and she gestured towards the window on the other side of the room.

Hesitantly I went towards it and slid it open, there were blocks of some-sort blocking the opening. They didn't seem to be cemented so I pushed them forward, trying to be as quiet as possible.

One by one I scratched my fingers clearing the blocks until they all collapsed; creating a loud crash. I knew I had to hurry, so I crawled through the window sending Grace a sympathetic look.

I fell a few feet onto the ground, and quickly gained my composure. Once I knew I was alright I peered back into the room, maybe I could take Grace, if I could just get her through the window.

I stood on my tippy toes to look into the open window. I screamed loudly when I found Rick was staring at me. He reached for me but I moved back and took off running. I heard him call after me but I didn't stop. I ran until I reached a home and then banged on the door until someone answered.

"Are you okay?" An old lady appeared in the door.

"Can I use your phone? It's an emergency!" I said hurriedly.

"Why-of course, come in, come in." She opened the door to let me in.

"Thank you, I'm sorry for the intrusion." I said shutting the door behind me and following her to her home phone. I dialed the police and they picked up,

"Hello, this is 911, what is your emergency?" The operator asked.

"Hi, my name is Tristan and I was kidnapped- "

I stopped talking when I heard a loud bang and a door slam open.

"Ma'am what was that?" The operator asked.

"Please send help, he's here, his name is Ric- "

My mouth was covered and I was dragged away from the phone. "What do you think you are doing, love?" Rick said caressing my face, with a furious look in his eyes.

"What do you think you are doing, young man" The old woman came out behind Rick, startled by the noise.

"None of your concern." He said flatly, pulling out a gun and shooting her.

"No! Please stop!" I screamed and kicked.

He pushed me against a wall roughly, "I can't believe you'd try to run from me... Especially after I warned you about what would happen if you didn't follow my orders." He said coldly, his face nearing mine.

"Please," I whispered, tears freely streaming down my face.

"I don't think so, In-fact, I think I'll really make you believe my warnings when we get back... Let's just say Grace won't come out unscathed. And Jason? He is as good as dead once I am done with him." He squeezed my arms, surely leaving bruises.

"The cops will be here any minute and you will be arrested." I spat in his face, pure adrenaline running through my veins.

He only chuckled, "We won't be here by the time they arrive."

Rick started to drag me out but I kicked him in the back of the knees causing him to crumble. I bolted through the stranger's home trying to find a way out, I could hear his footsteps behind me but I couldn't stop to see how close he was. Finding a door, I clawed to open it, undoing the latches and locks on it until it was open.

Running, as fast as I could, only to be pounced on by Rick, knocking the breath out of me, I couldn't move all I was able to focus on was regaining my breath.

He picked me up over his shoulder as I coughed and tried to breathe. Squirming wouldn't do anything, and by the time we made it to his house, I was exhausted. He brought me to the room where Grace stayed, dropping me hard to the ground.

I looked at Grace through closing eyes.

"You can thank your friend, Grace, for the pain you are going to experience." Rick spat at me as Grace's face contorted with fear.

He roughly grabbed a hold of Grace's shoulder and she yelped in pain. I crawled to Rick and grabbed a hold of his leg, begging him to not do this.

"You should be worried about your fate." He coldly looked at me, and kicked me from him using his other leg.

I flung back against the bed post, hitting my head on it roughly. All I could see through my blurred eyes was Rick walking away with my screaming best friend.

This was all my fault.
